Hi all )
I have ipod touch 2g and some no-name AV cable with chip.
I bought ipod with 3.0 firmware and do not want to downgrade.
With standart iapd it just says "... not for ipod"
With all iapds found by me in internet it plays about 2 mins, thet says "... not for IPHONE" and then - sound only. But if i exit Video, reconnect cable and play video again, some time it plays with no video on TV, then it stops and exits to list. After that i resume playing and get more 2 mins TVout video and so on.
Is tehere patched iapd specially for ipod touch 2g 3.0?
Sorry for english.

Hm. I set 775 instead 755 and now watching video about 10 mins... Maybe just lucky...

Lol, still working )))) Sometimes pauses in YouTube, but works perfectly playing mp4.
I hope that 775 really helps and this is not untill next reboot.

So if u have some problems, try to set rights to 775!!!

Red face iPod Touch iapd install??

I too, have a 2G iPod Touch, FW 3.0 (jailbroken), and a generic AV cable. I was really excited to buy this cable cheap. I get great AUDIO but *NOT* video. Bought the cable the end of May, now the site says "this cable is NOT compatible with FW 3.0." ARRRGGGHHH!!!

I've read most of this thread, have downloaded the "iapd" file, which shows as a generic file on my Mac. Now that I have that "iapd" file, what do I do with it??
Detailed directions greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!!

Thank you vortex! It might not say how to make the iapd work for third-party video cables on firmware 3.0, but it certainly is a place to start.

well, there are no problems playing video with 3.0 Firmware. (the only reason why I downgraded to 3.0)

I have a 3gs and it works fine with my 3rd party cable.

I have the iapd which is 1.199.472 bytes. But it did not work with 755. I put it to 777 and it works perfect...

hope someone finds a iapd patch for 3rd party cables to run with 3.1 firmware...

Default 3gs iapd 3.1

I am trying to find a patched iapd file for my 3gs I am considering upgrading to 3.1 but I am not sold yet. I found this website

Google Translate

Which seams to have several patch files ( includeing one for 3Gs on 3.1) but I have not tried it yet. Has anyone tried any of these yet?

As suondmao, already stated on his tutorial, the modded IAPD file ONLY removes the popup message, it does NOT enable video out capability if your cable does not already support it.

Furthermore, after my own experience since using the IAPD file from the 2.2.1 FW days, I found that this is not the best solution. The IAPD file crashes periodically after this mod. You will see this when you check your crash folder, mine had couple hundred crash logs related to this IAPD file. This is also the reason why the video or audio would either stop or pause by itself after a brief use.

The better solution is to pay a dollar and use PopupBlocker. This does the same thing as the IAPD file and way MORE.

Popup blocker will not help here. It just blocks the popup, the tv-out signal gets lost when the popup should appear (if it is blocked)

But this patched iapd I spoke somewhere above about (1.199.472 bytes) seems to be the best solution if you want to use a china av-cable with chip.

Mine is ok for up to 2.01 firmware, if the seller was true.

However, with the above patch I had good results with 3.0 Firmware (youtube perfect, screensplitter perfect aswell, tvout app from cydia, well worked, but you could not make entries on the screen any more as the screen blanked out and the digitizer did not take inputs anymore from there on.

now I installed the above patched iapd at 3.1.2. The results are yOUTUBE perfect, the other 2 cydia tools work, but the tv output is shit. the screen look like crashed on tv with bars block not updating etc..

I don't know if the problem is the way it got jailbreaked. Maybe there is a mobile subtrate problem caused by the jailbreak?! I don't know.

But If you only need youtube tv-out to work perfect, in your car or whatever, go for it. there is a download of the patched file somewhare on xsellize forum for different iphones..

mine is 3gs 32GB updated with original FW by itunes, then blackrained, then restored with a custom pwnaged ipsw...

The cable is china with chip made for up to fw 2.01

If someone gets a better solution for fw 3.1.2 don't miss to let us know here...!

The version is on
