Today, I had been patched another portion of firmware, it's not IAPD.
It works perfectly with only simple connection of audio ground and composite pin with 1K ohm resistor of accesory indicator. Of course it works for old version video cable. According to answer for "Display on TV?", it displays video to ipod or TV until reboot. There are no nag message of "It's not made for ipod....." nor quiting after several seconds. After some beta testing with my friend, I'll post it. ^^ Last edited by freedoct; 09-07-2008 at 04:57 AM. |

one hundred and twenty four posts, over eleven months but finally I can say
I have a Beta patch! I say beta becuase I thought it to be fine, but between apparently burning my serial port (from connectiong it striaght to my computer) (i dont know if i have actually - cause i can still read from the iphone, and if i fryed the controller the whole port shouldnt work...) and working on sending raw HCI commands to the Bluecore 6-ROM Bluetooth chip, I dont know whats happening anymore. (yes i am actually working on patching bt next, btw any info drop us a line on david , which is the account name, to the domain: villagepublishing.com.au [guess where the '@' goes... ])So anyway, being the tempremental little bitch the iphone is, once i have played a video without the cable in, and plug the cable in it doesnt output to TV, i have to GDB the process, and do something I did like 6 months ago DO NOT BE ALARMED, A RESTORE WILL PROBABLY FIX THIS, but in light of this, i will not release a patcher file, but rather call on two (2) Beta testers. You must surfice all these requirements: 1. (optional) have an iPhone 3G AND dock (NOT THE UNIVERSAL ONE, the iphone 3G one) 2. an iphone 3G running 2.1 3. a non-apple certified cable that, when you plug it in says "this accessory is not made to work for iphone would you like to turn on airplane blah blah blah (if i see that msg one more i will throw my iph @ a wall )4. (optional) a home made tv-out cable that says the same msg when plugged in happy β testing! ps β testers will get a new iapd file, not the patcher file. |

Would you post the schematick for the homemade tv-out cable?
thx in advance

i dont know it - my cable (ebay fake) has a freakin chip in it it self, but im pretty sure it is trying to minic apple (but obviously fails) im pretty sure the old iPOD cables will work - and hence you could follow their schematic (you just need the right value resistor (tv out value is iduuno...?) on the ipod accessory pin)
any beta testers...? |

Hello,
I would be happy to do some beta testing for you. I have an iPod touch with a homemade dock (currently audio and battery charging work, but there are obviously no video signals). I am running jailbroken firmware 2.1, and am familiar with and comfortable about the risks hacking the iPod. Unfortunately, I don't have a commercial (non-Apple) cable. @bigfishman
Charging is relatively simple to do - you just need to provide a voltage over the two USB data pins to signal the iPod to actually accept the input voltage. Use a voltage divider with relatively high value resistors (I used 1M IIRC) to cut the 5V input voltage down to about 2.5v, and plug both USB data pins to this. You can then put 5V power at the USB Power pin, and GND to USB GND, and it will start to charge. Note that on my tests, I used a 5v voltage regulator (1A max) plugged into a wall wart to provide me with the power. I need to check current, but the regulator seemed to get a bit hot after about 30 seconds, which makes me think it is pulling all available current. Tonight I will check what current is passing through, and perhaps put in a series resistor to bump it down to the USB standard of about 500mA or so. Of course, the standard disclaimers apply: this worked for me, but may blow up your iPod, do this at your own risk, etc etc etc. I can post a schematic if my description is not sufficient. Cheers |
