svpatch is a modded plist so that your phone displays that you are on a different firmware than you really are. so a 1.1.5 sv patch would display in the about section of your phone would say that you have 1.1.5 and it also comes up in itunes that you have 1.1.5

I'm not sure if the "method" he uses is the one I am thinking, but if it's editing the SystemVersion.plist file, then no, it won't fool iTunes, iTunes recognize the phone as 1.1.5 but still asks for Update to 1.1.4.

It's quite retarded to use the SvPatch, especially with the (even more retarded) version checks that they have in Installer.app.

well with the version checks in installer i just switch off my default one is 1.1.5 so if i need to have 1.1.2 i just install 1.1.2 and then uninstall itand itunes does recognize it as 1.1.5 and does not ask me to update.
its just a fun thing to show friends =P

Actually, though changing the version doesn't do anything (I am on 1.3.3.7, and it's asking me to update to 1.1.4 XD), if you change the BUILD VERSION to the newest version then it works and iTunes will think it's on the new version and won't make you update.
