i couldn't connect my use winscp properly:

any help ?

1. installed winscp,
2. switched on the wifi router
3. placed the iphone in the cradle
4. switched on the wifi and ssh on iphone
5. enter ip root password, scp in winscp, and login
but i always get : searching for host........................
network error, connction timed out ?

my PC is connected to net, through usb modem, does that effect the connecting of winscp with iphone

Hi, probably wrong IP address or changed/incorrect pswd for root user .. Maybe some firewall on an AP?

you should try wait it usally takes a while the first time just dont hit the abort button

If your PC is directly connected to the Modem, (assuming you mean a cable/dsl modem), then your PC is getting directly a public IP address, not an internal address, therefore you cannot connect to your iPhone from the PC. The PC needs an internal address, connect the PC to your WIFI router (that is if you have one).

yah you need to have some kind of wireless router, and then connect to wifi via your iphone then find out the ip (by looking at the adminstration page of your router and finding the devices currently connected to it)

most are usually 192.168.x.x, atleast for both of my wireless routers at 2 different places

also, i always connect via usb to the computer too just to make sure

it has been sometime since i posted but i need help on this topic....
my iphone is unlocked with ziphone at 1.1.4 and im having some problems connecting through ssh and also i have tired iphone browser which says that the phone is not jailbroken,

when i had my first generation iphone, i had an easy address 192. 168.xxx

now i just got a 3G iphone, the address is all weird...is that the way its supposed to be?
