Default Orange UK Carrier Settings Available via iTunes

Plugged my unlocked 3G into iTunes yesterday and got a carrier update - for Orange...

This does away with the network settings option however enables tethering and MMS

Some people have also said that putting a Orange PAYG simcard into a locked O2 phone unlocks the phone for Orange with the new carrier settings - bonus if its true - can anyone confirm?

This would make no sense, O2 would never agree to that. Has to be an urban myth.

May well be an urban myth - I would like to see it proved/disproved

Could you upload the updated carrier file for us?
Should be in %app data%\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Carrier Support

It is fiction

iTunes kept saying unauthorised SIM card in iPhone. So I decided to install ultrasn0w, sync with iTunes, and voila! ihazsignal
Then I clicked Check for Update, it asked me to update the carrier settings (I didn't check what was removed, I just totally forgot :/), removed ultrasn0w and rebooted with the Orange SIM Card still in the iPhone. No signal. Plugged it into iTunes and it said unauthorised SIM again.

It's a myth.

And for those interested, here's a link to the IPCC file.

I actually posted this on MacRumors first but meh lol.

So yeah, rumours put to rest. If any of you do get it working, tell us how you did it, if you were jailbroken and how you were jailbroken etc.
