I know that the iPhone 3GS just came out. But considering the intervals of iPhone releases, there is a good probability that a new iPhone will show up in 2010.

I have an iPhone 2G and am planning to sell it and get a new iPhone. Should I get a 3GS or wait for a while ??

Much probably, yes, a new iPhone may show up in 2010. Changes on it, however, should be fairly minimal -- mostly on capacity, with 8Gb/16Gb phones being discontinued to give place to 64Gb models.

Besides its internal storage, I can't think anything big missing from current 3GS family. Maybe the front camera for video conferences, which I particularly know nobody who actually uses it from his/her Nokia's. Maybe LTE when it arrives. Maybe 802.11n, which is now a final standard, not a draft anymore. Maybe a better camera, or a camera flash. A new shape? I liked those aluminum, unibody squared concepts which floated around a couple months ago.

I think it is fairly safe to get a 3GS at this time. This model is quite feature solid, and the software is what makes all the difference these times. Now that more and more carriers are being added to official carriers list, "even the unlock is becoming a thing of past" (note the quotes).
