Default Handling Short Code SMS Alerts

Hello All, Dev Team,

I would like to narrow in on a particular problem, and to find out if this is something the devteam might be able to work on among other things.

SMS Voicemail Alerts coming from short code phone numbers don't work. Two threads on this problem with the Fido network in Canada:

This fellow thinks it is because the iphone's baseband doesn't interpret short codes properly:

Anyone know if he is right? Anyone working on similar issues?

Please don't use this thread to discuss the issue with respect to Fido... that is what the two first links were for. This is intended to see if there is any knowledge out there about short code handling by the iphone.

Thank you for all your hard work so far.
-Joe

I wonder if this description of the SMS 'packet' structure sheds any light for those looking into things...

There are already multiple threads discussing this topic.
Short sender numbers are not the only explanation, as I myself received some SMSs from my provider which came from the number 5655. I do not receive voicemail notification SMS (5555).
But please, search the forum before starting new threads.

I see.

I assume this is one of the threads the above poster was referring to for others to follow on:
