Hold down shift and click Restore so that you can choose the 1.0.2 file.

so to clarify

I'm on windows.

I take the IPSW files I put it on the desktop, put the iPhone in restore mode, then press SHIFT and click restore and it'll allow me to select the IPSW file on the desktop?

Those -at least 500.000- once happy Apple customers (contributing to the massive/huge/colossal (sometimes) backdated stock option plans for Mr. Steve Jobs), might turn into a frustrated and unhappy Apple customer ...

Any iPhone turning into a brick after updating to 1.1.1 is bricked on purpose by Apple.
Just want to see a judge taking side of Apple in this against over 500.000 combined iPhone users ...

@Top, I read around and I think that my method is correct.

Put it on restore, hold shift then click restore in itunes, then select the IPSW files.

I see this news as an empty threat to keep people from unlocking.

The software unlocking methods are completely reversable.

Most people who've been smart enough to keep up with the news unlock their phone should know this.

It's basically just to keep people who don't have a clue from even trying.

No, I think he means in iTunes. Shift click the Restore button there.

I smell a long battle between the devs and Apple like with PSP devs and Sony.

i wont have my iphone till the 7th so hopefully it will still be unlockable when i recieve it.

Well ..I wasnt going to update anyway, to part with the programs I currently have on my iPhone..compared to what I'd gain by updating, I think Im going to stick with what I have right now

Just a crazy thought, what could happen if somebody (concurently) writes a different firmware for the iPhone, and maybe even better (in some ways) than the one Apple releases. Then it would be really really interesting
