Angry Blank Text messages - Tmobile USA ??? What gives

All day today I have been recieving blank text messages. There is no number associated with the text and there is no message in the text. The other wierd thing is they are dated either December 31, 1965 or September 12, 2012.

I have confirmed this is happening to one other person I know that has an unlocked iphone on tmobile in the USA.
Both phones were unlocking using QuickPwn for windows. Firmware 2.2.1, 2g phones.

Anyone know whats going on?

Thanks in advance!

Same thing is happening to both my 2G phones. They are running 2.2 FWIW. This appears to be attached to the voice mail. I get the bank text when I get a voice mail, but no voicemail notifier. I get another one when I check the voice mail. It seems the phone is interpenetrating the voice mail notification/clearing notification as a text message. Just started happening today. I have no idea why.

Default Me too!

Every time I check my voice mail, I get a blank text. No text, no sender details. What's up with that?

Default Getting the same too

I'm getting the same thing with my 2G iPhone on 2.1 OS just now for the first time. My text are from Sept. 4th 2012 from blank with "@" in the text. Weird. Hopefully someone has a fix.

I am experiencing the SAME problem on my unlocked 3g iphone FW 2.2.1 on T-Mobile!

I don't know what's going on! Is it from something I installed recently? I just did the upgrade for xGPS in Cydia last night...

Can anyone please help??? This is so frustrating! My blank texts happens when I receive a voicemail (the voicemail notification dot no longer shows up now) and when I retrieve my voicemail, i get another blank text... and they are dated Dec 31, 1969 1:59 PM and Sept. 4, 2012 1:17 PM. What the heck is going on?

Oh, and I just got off the phone with my husband, and he's having the exact same issue with his unlocked 2g iphone on 2.2.1 T-Mobile USA. It's definitely some kind of T-Mobile SIM Issue... this is so strange... I really hope this gets resolved soon!!!!

Exclamation Figured out the problem...

UPDATE:
I just spoke with T-mobile. Apparently they have been making updates to their software in the T-mobile system over the past few weeks. Part of the updates they did were to the speed up the internet on the network, but in the process they screwed up the voicemail notifier settings. They told me it is not a priority to fix it since the problem is only happening on phones they do not currently offer. I reminded them that there are many of us loyal customers out there that decided to stay with t-mobile and spend $$ on unlocked iphones instead of making the switch to AT&T and that they should try to fix the bug to avoid losing us. They said to give it a week and they will be making improvements to the software on their end.

The only solution for the time being is to have T-mobile disable the voicemail notification. In this case you will no longer receive any text messages or a dot indicator when you receive a voicemail. **I do suggest for everyone having the same problem to call T-mobile and remind them you are a loyal customer and would appreciate them fixing the bug. If they receive enough of us complaining about the same issue I am sure they will be more willing to fix the problem quicker. **

LOL, same problem here, glad to know it wasn't just me.

This morning I decided to check my voicemail and had 4 new voicemails that I wasn't notified of, nice job T-Mo!

BTW, I found this thread by searching Google for "received blank text from 1969".

Cool A bit relieved and a bit annoyed

I am rather elated that someone has figured out what the F was going on with the VMS notification always on and then the text message thing as well. I just got my jail broken 2g iphone about 2 days ago. I noticed this issue almost immediately after I got it and thought that I may have gotten ripped off...nice to know this is not the case.

I am calling T-mobile to complain as well. We pay good money and they need us more than we need them.

Not sure if anyone else has experienced another issue, "echo problem on the receivers end?" If so, I did some research and found out that it is because the volume is too loud on the iphone. What I did is I called someone and adjusted the volume on the headset until they no longer received the echo. Hoping this will help anyone else out that has the same issue.

One other thing: How do I delete apps. that don't have an X next to them?

Exclamation Also Noticed

I started testing the VMS test message issue and their relation to each other. I noticed that as soon as I left a VMS message I received the blank text. So, when you receive one of those text messages check your VMS. After I checked the VMS I received another blank text message.
