okay so here's what I did and here's what happened: (done on osx)

used independence
jailbreaked
activated it
it now gives the no sim message
installed the shh package through independence
got apptapp put in launcher
connected and transfered ipsf file using fugu
worked pefectly and supposedly unlocked
but after that it just said no sim card installed again
rebooted several times, tried all sorts of stuff

then I used apptapp to ssh lockdownd and erica's app onto the phone. did the 20 minutes thing, supposedly worked fine, restarted and put sim in
same thing as with ipsf

what am i doing wrong?
is my phone busted?

when i restored using itunes i had an att sim in and it said that no sim was detected too.

please help someone.

yes...here...i have sen this over and over on a mac...and have recommended that if possible use a pc to do a restore and re-unlock...do you have access to a pc? friends? family members?

If you have a "No SIM detected" message at any point where you know there is a SIM inserted, then there may be something wrong with the phone or how the SIM is inserted in the phone.

Contrast this with a an "incorrect SIM" or "invalid SIM" message, which just suggests that there is a problem with activating the SIM. Need to know what the exact error message is to figure out the issue.

it's a no sim detected BUT when i activated using independence and later terminal it said something like activated message: no sim detected.

can i used freshly insttaled itunes 7.4 to restore in different pc? and is it going to be like unactivated iphone again? thanks

yes you can... i can walk someone thru this unlock on a pc in 30 min flat...

i started doing everything on my mac, and after repeated problems i decided to use the pc methods...definately easier.

what about all the contacts that i already input on the phone will i lose evrything??

i'm gonna try this all on pc. I guess i'll restore it and go from there.

unfortunately yes...unless you can sync contacts with something first.
