123.1kbps using iphonenetworktest.com

youtube is searchable, not viewable, must use another port.

mobilechat / colloquy not working, using port 6667

For those apps that use different ports you might need to edit the proxy.pac file to send those direct. There are many examples on the web. Not sure exactly what you would need to add though. I would have no way of testing Qtel it appears blocks all access except through their proxy.

I am going to continue testing and adding lines to see if perhaps some of these apps initiate a connection via port 80 (8080) but transfer via some other port.

kdub3000..

Are you sure its 123 kbps ?

If its true then I might revert back to the TMobile Web ($5.99) plan.

So Safari, Weather, Maps work fine right ?

Thanks in advance.

the lowest speed I got was 42kbps and the fastest was 131.2kbps.

But, when I tried the blackberry internet plan for a day, I was getting the same results. But, with that plan, all the ports are open, so you can use chat, irc and watch youtube.
But, for $5.99/mo, I think it is acceptable.

This will only effect your gprs/edge interface. Your WiFi is en0 your gprs/edge interface is ip1.

So yes your Wifi will function normally as it does now.

Thanks for quick reply.

Thats good to know. I dont plan to use chat & youtube on EDGE so I should be ok with the $5.99 plan. I will change my plan back to the 5.99 tomorrow.

Thanks again.
