If you do a little serach you will find all my posts relaitng to wi-fi and how I have got it back to working again each time. Each time it takes me 2-3 days to get it back.

This time without a Doubt I can prove that the Phone company is doing something that effects wi-fi.

When I have wi-fi working fine. Sudenlly I will see the Edge Logo come up on my phone. No matter what I do with the Big Boss tool to enable or disable edge it wont go away. Unless Im in a phone call.

In India this service is called Air Tell live. And it seems if a Phone supports it. The settings will get downloaded to the phone.
When this happens wi-fi stops working.

The only way to get it back to working for me is to
a. Call the Phone company and tell them to Turn off the Air Tell Live Service on my phone. 4 Hours after doing this. The Edge logo will vanish from my phone.
b. Wifi will still not work. Untill I do a complete winpwn. Well I need to do the first stage.
c. I also need to make sure Im not runing the latest version of itunes but the first 8.x version is ok.

Now if only some of the experts here could explain what is going on. And how can my Phone company have control over setings on my phone without my permision. What files are changing ?
Air Tel Live is a free edge service they run which allows you to browse upto their site where they can sell you crap like ring tones, horoscope, etc.

Can we start by listing what plist files and configuration files are used by wi/fi ?
And where they are stored on the iphone.
This time I have ssh and terminal on the phone.

First of all, Wifi has nothing to do with EDGE. So disabled EDGE from Airtel isnt going to help you at all.

Now, your Wifi problem. Are you anywhere close to the router?..
Because it seems like your Wifi connection is dropping due to low singal strenght.

When you connect to your Wifi network, do you put in the proper Password?
IE. What are you using WPA Password or WEP Passkey?

The phone is sitting on the Router. Its not a signal issue. Trust me
Lets not get side tracked. I know for a fact it has something to do with airtell because every single time they have turned edge back on for me my wi/fi has bombed. Sometimes they leave me in peace for 2-3 months then bang its on again.
I ring up my profile shows airtell live as on. I ask them to turn it off edge logog goes 10 days of debuging to get my wifi back on. They only say sorry sir sometimes the system changes settings on its own. We will turn it off.
Ok lets just sort this out the way I think will work. File by file.
So the first file in /private/var/prefrences/systemconfiguration/
Networkinterfaces.plist this is my file. Please post yours if its working fine. I belive we will find a solution by going thru each of these files. (Proof is when my wifi was working these contents where very diffirent yes I should have saved a copy)

To those having just the quick spining wheel without picking up anything try renaming these files which have wi-fi in the name and restart.
Still waiting for somebody to post their files. From a working or non working phone. Better if you made a zip file and put them all up.

As you can see my Sim car provider is somehow dumping his garbage in here.

dude you dont even own a 2G what you bitching and moaning about. And what are you going to do if I prove my theory and it helps a lot of guys ?

Nobody has been able to crack this wi/fi problem about sometime somebody at least tried.

BTW if you delete prefrences.plist and rebot it is created clean.
You hook it your pC and even without runing itunes its being changed in the background.

This is one reason why you should stay far away from runing the latest itunes i.e. 8.x

I do own a 2G. It's not my main device that's all. It works perfectly. To prove your so called theory bring 10+ iPhone 2G owners using airtell with the exact same problem as you. Like many people said in your last thread, there's no way your company could kill your wifi. That's illegal.

Instead of pointless posts like try your network settings how about just posting the files being discussed so it can help people debug their problem ?
I don't know about 10 but I know 5 guys who have this problem.
It could also be something like Airtell thinking all Iphones are 3G as they launched their service with only the 3G handsets.
THis is only specific to Bangalore. Bombay Airtel guys are working. And im chking files with them as Ive had ZERO help on that front here.
