no idea. I only got it set up on my dash because I followed a walkthrough on the internet! Is Tinyproxy able to set proxy settings for EDGE service?

If not, is there some other program that can do that?

T-Mobile is no longer allowing full internet access over TMobileWeb (tzones). I had been using it for years and have probably downloaded 10's of GB's.. Stopped working a few months ago on my Dash, I called T-Mobile, they said they are actively disabling (restricting) ports from now on for that service, since it is supposed to be WAP only and they want ppl to get the Total Internet.

Confirmed this with friends, their tzones also stopped working outside of WAP sites.

Tzones or TMobileWeb can no longer be used for full internet access (even though you could in the past). T-Mobile rep said they are actively closing ports to enable only WAP type pages - had been using it for years, stopped wokring a few weeks ago. I also confirmed this with other T-Mobile using friends.

Only option they have right now is TotalInternet, which they are trying to push the tzones people to.

Yes, my understanding is that Total Internet is faster than the $5.99 T-Zones plan (which goes through WAP, and has port restrictions). Plus, as of today 9/12/2007, the price dropped from $29.99 per month to #19.99 per month. I just switched from the Blackberry plan to the Total Internet Plan because the latter now includes the WiFi hotspots in addition to the faster EDGE.

You can read about the plans at Howard Forums: http://wiki.howardforums.com/index.php/T-Mobile_Data

I had T-zones full internet working as recently as 6 hours ago today on my Dash. It still works, at least in some areas (Seattle, Wa for me). It seems so simple to add a proxy settings area in the iphone network settings menu. I'd like to keep using Tzones until it stops working, if it ever does!

Just another thought. Isn't it possible that the reports of the new Total Internet plan being faster are only a result of fewer people being on it since it's new? I thought that EDGE was EDGE, and it was all basically the same. EIther way, I'd rather have $5.99 slow edge than $20 medium edge...

What are the pluses of either and the con's?

I have the same question - I only see the $39.99 option on the public tmobile webpage. Is there a particular 'phone/pda' model people are switching their 'default phone' to to see the $19.99 pricing?
