I just upgraded to 2.1 on my first generation iPhone. Though I lost the jailbreak after the update, the BossPrefs's Power-As-Numbers hack remained.
I thought a firmware update will wipe such hacks. Anyone care to explain?. Thanks. |

It is stored as a preference in a plist. iTunes restores your old plist.

iTunes doesn't even need to restore the old Preferences plists; they're simply still there. Upgrade affects the system partition only.
