The following are some personal words of mine on the video, the unlock etc..
As I trust gizmodo the competence to devide a fake and real shit with this video I belive in the existence of a sw unlock created by a unknown third party. The unlocking business is a shady and mafiose business, I understand their wish to keep anonymous. Beeing labeled as scam was a side effect of the unorthodox way they choose to do their business but well what you think in first place if you look on the wild west of the internet nowadays and see people getting mail to transfer 18k$ in a country known as scam heaven for offshore fraud. If I offended someone with posting on possible scam I am sorry but as a admin of this forum its also my duty to care on the user and the content and not get possible scam sorted out before user get harmed.
If you ask me how I fell about someone selling the unlocking solution now, I can only speak of my personal opinion that hacking or result of such work should never been sold. As I regret such practice I dislike the way they choose but its their work so they may choose what to do with it. We have to respect this.
It was very at last kind at all to admit they build up on our works and we appriciate this step.
We had two offers so far form commercial unlocking companys in the past as well, one can be read in the status thread of the dev team news forum, one was only handled on IRC. Even if one of the offers was about 100.000 Eur coming for a company named "da vinci team," and honestly this is more than I will earn in the next few years all together, not me nor anybody on the team was even thinking of selling the unlock according to our strong believe in hacking ethics, a thing a lot of people properly will never understand but its a way to go for some crazy people like us.
To this ethics we also count the belive that one shall not steal, so we are not going to reverse engineer the ipsf solution as many people believed or expected but finish our own software and way, which will be released as the free unlock solution.
So far we written multiple thousend lines of code, invested endless hours of time and energy (yes also electrical
) into this project. And noone of the people left even thinks about giving up now the work of the past 2 months, which was hard, stressing and outsourcing for any of us.
Also in the future we will supply you with further "quality" solutions and hacks to stay and still serve the iPhone coommunity with our work. In the meantime enjoy the fruites of the dev team work, like the countless cool progams made with nightwatchs toolchain or the other neat tool allowing you to do all the stuff you can do today based upon our research.
In the end I think also a official excuse should go to ryan of engadget for the fud he had to stand for all sides, users of this forum and other part of the internet.
Ok thats it of me for today, please don't moan, we will finish our free solution as soon as possible research is a difficult task and also based upon lots of luck sometimes finding the right tweak/path to the goal and not get stuck after days of euphoric research in dead end. Free unlock will come, and it will come.
update: Because of recent postings, consider this as an update. More I have not to say, to anyone who is angry on the long distance between the last update I can only relpeat that the lock is atm the highest and only goal and there cannot be an update before noting was archived. So if nothing to tell, nothing is told, next progress update ill be the total and free unlock. But we also stay with the principle of quality not quanity updates. You saw our "magic" in the past, withotu the work done all the cool stuff today wouldn't be possible, not even ipsf gui app. So have some faith in the men behind this.
update2: beware of scammer none the less, even if ipsf is legit don't get you cought by someone promissing their product and take your $$ and run, check of who you buy!
