Default [iTunes][OS X] Stopping iTunes window opening when I connect

I'm using iTunes 7.6.2 (9) on OS 10.5.2 with a 1.1.4 (1.1.2 OTB) iPhone 8GB. I have it set up to sync when I connect, but only contacts and calendar - not music or photos.

Does anyone know if there's a way I can stop the iTunes window opening when I connect the device? I don't mind if it's running in the background, but it's a pain having to just close it every time I connect my phone since I don't actually use my Macbook for music, or iTunes for anything other than syncing.

I did look in the settings and it looks like the only way to do it would be to tell it not to sync when it connects, but I do need it to be syncing. Is there perhaps some sort of script that could automatically close the window or something?

Ideally I'd just have it so it synced contacts & calendar and offloaded any new photos in the background.

try killing the ituneshelper process and see if it helps (activity monitor>select ituneshelper>Quit process)

I don't see iTunesHelper there... I did try selecting 'all processes' at the top but I still don't see it.
