I was wondering if anyone knows how to use the Carrier png files that are already in the iPhone at /System/Library/Carrier Bundles
Back in 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 I was able to use a custom operator logo with the patched Springboard.app, but as you probably know, using that hack would retain the logo no matter what network you are in. I'm currently using Vodafone (Italy) and I noticed there's already a PNG file in the UnknownCarrier.bundle. After reading this thread, I tried to create a custom bundle called Vodafone_Italy.bundle and a symlink with the MCC code of my carrier hoping I can use that image file instead of text, but it doesn't seem to work. Is there a way to make this work? Thanks in advance |

I am just quoting Rogoschin ( a brilliant member ) :
"You will see your own carrier logo in status bar if you insert something like this in your carrier.plist file: <key>StatusBarImages</key> <array> <dict> <key>AllowPrefixMatching</key> <true/> <key>CarrierName</key> <string>simyo</string> <key>DefaultImage</key> <string>Default_CARRIER_simyo.png</string> <key>FullScreenOpaqueImage</key> <string>FSO_CARRIER_simyo.png</string> </dict> </array> The png's have to be in the same directory as your carrier.plist file. FSO_CARRIER_<xxxx>.png is the png used for the springboard home screen, the other one is used within applications with light background. The logos should have 20 pix height and about 60 pix width to fit in the status.bar" I repeat again : IT IS NOT MY IDEA, IT IS ROGOSCHIN'S IDEA, AND YOU SHOULD THANK HIM. I AM JUST REPORTING...... Anyway, this worked for me. Hopefully, it'll work for you!!! ![]() PS: Of course, simyo refers to his carrier, and should be changed to your personal carrier! Thanks for the reply!
Unfortunately I already tried something like that, but it doesn't seem to work that's why I went all way with the symlink stuff. The thing is that I'm not really sure what is the name of my carrier. I konw it seems a very stupid statement, but here is why: I am on Vodafone Italy and the carrier text I get on the status bar is "vodafone IT". If I go in the Carrier settings and do a simple scan of my network I get "voda IT". As you know in the UnknownCarrier.plist there is already a Vodafone PNG file with its relative settings. That one obviously doesn't work, and even adding one with "vodafone IT" or "voda IT" doesn't work either. I really don't know what am I missing. Thanks for the help! |
