I'll wait for the SDK and get official apps if this is the stand-off from devs in the community. They may as well go and work for M$ or Apple!

I hope they will release the jailbreak earlier than late february, but I understand they will wait 'till the SDK, although I don't think Apple cares that much.
I mean, sure Apple cares, but before they will release 1.1.4, they will check every hole in the firmware, to make sure it isn't 'hackable', no matter if the jailbreak is already released. If they wants to wait, we have to wait.. they made it, so... Time will tell what the best decision was.

I agree with your thought, but then again i also agree with devs team on holding on 1.1.3 jailbreak - waiting for the sdk to come out.
I assume, jailbreaking process is getting harder and harder, maybe devs team themself feels even they are quite lucky this time, but might not be lucky next time because it starting to become impossible to jailbreak. Now, by not releasing it yet, waiting for SDK first (we only need to wait 1 month more for God's sake!), hopefully, Apple won't know where are their weaknesses. When we got the SDK, the theory is, who needs 1.1.4, 1.1.5, 2.0?! we are already quite ok with iPhone performance now, and having an SDK will allow us write whatever program we can imagine (hopefully). Let me ask you, what is the 1.1.3 features that generally an 1.1.2/1.1.1+3rd party apps cannot do? no MMS, no cut&paste either, only because of Google Maps we ask/force the devs to reveal our truf card?!? If the devs release it now, then Apple will learn where are their mistakes and fix them, and it is guaranteed that they will release another new firmware with fixed bug and harder, multiple, quadruple encryption, BEFORE they release the SDK, AND the SDK might going to be rely on the keys inside this new firmware to protect it from able to be use by people like us. When that time come, what we will do? begging again to the devs team like now? while the firmware might already be impossible to be broken..BECAUSE we open our cards too soon. No more bullets left. This is surely like the story of the goose and the golden egg. And.. hate to say this, am a mac lover but, ..Apple..You are no better than M$ . Even M$ is better, they don't lock their Pocket PC!!

I think it is smart to wait with the jailbreak until the SDK. If the SDK demands a new firmware i would be happier to get it jailbreaked with this method a few days after the release than sit here with 1.1.3 jailbreaked with functions i already have. If 1.1.3 would have come with some really cool features and upgrades maybe i would have wanted it jailbreaked, but to me 1.1.3 was pretty lame. Almost everything can be done with a jailbreaked 1.1.2. Better to keep the jailbreak a secret and hope that Apple dont find the hole for the next FW. |

wether we wait or not apple aint stupid. hacking the iphone as been the best thing for the iphone, it boost sales same as it did when the ps2 was hacked.
holding back on the firmware hack will gain no advantage over apple they probably know all the weaknesses already. dev team own little fantasy world
