also people think that apple is best?, see the problems related to their own update, people who are paying legally getting bricked, double triple charged and do some extra restore/backup/update/register steps... they are so perfect that they brick people who paid them for legal hack/unlock as well

I think there is no points in waiting for sdk. Dev team alerady said it's jailbroken. Apple knows they have a bug somewhere, and belive me, they have more hackers than dev team. And ev en if they don't fix that bug with the new SDK, they will fix it with next update they make. IMO it's quite pointless to hold it till the end of february... Just release it and let us enjoy it as long as we can.

I have to admit that im not a big hacker, but as far as i know we arent in some kind of a dan brown book, so there is no unbreakable software, and as long as human being is working he will make errors, if its apple or m$. Errare humanum est! But!, the errors will be more difficult to find the more updates for the iphone will come, not impossible but a hugh effort will be needed, and well... i guess we all want the SDK for our iphone a week or maybe a month later on our unlocked iphone.. and not only 1/2 year later, or even more. Still if the dev team doesnt release the jailbreak for 1.1.3 there is a big chance we'll have to wait a pretty long time, till we can use the SDK... in the end its hard to make predictions... we have to wait an see what february 2008 brings...

Now the dev team has a monopoly on sales until next month, plus donations! Good idea on their part. Apple will close the hole regardless.

I think it is a good decision not to release the jailbreak now. It goes back to this "Cat and Mouse" game that jobs was talking about. Right now Apple is winning because they are in the dark and the devs are not. If jailbreak is released now, Apple can patch and there will not be any way to put apps (if you're a just a regular user, hacking is more than unlocking n jailbreaking) on the iPhone anymore except through official Apple program which will probably require signing your soul away or purchasing some form of digital certificate. I am sure that we can all get our hands on those nifty apps in 1.1.3 sooner or later. Actually in the long run, keeping up with this jailbreak/firmware upgrade game is very tiring for just regular user...maybe homebrew firmware patches (like psp) are the way to go

On another note, I completely agree with Dev/Elite team's decision and it makes complete since. Behind you guys all the way! Last edited by Pyrofallout; 01-20-2008 at 10:06 PM. |

i really think that the dev team is only playing god with the other people.
does 1.1.3 actually have built in support for the SDK? doesn't apple realease a new version for each improvement? like 1.1.3 allowed the playback of rented videos. i think apple will launch a new update on SDK launch, in order for the iphone to be fully compatible with the SDK applications. so therefore i think that dev team should release the jailbreak, so other people interested in 1.1.3 could help out with the unlocking. the dev team and the ellites are not the only people that are working on iphones and on unlocks. |
