Default [SOLVED] Changing the iPhone name on a Wireless network

i dont know if any of you have noticed this before. I have a Linksys WRT54G V8 access filtered by MAC ADDRESS.

The first time i authorize an iphone mac address to jailbreak if i go to the DHCP table and i check on the device name for that address it says iPhone.

Now after the unlock process (AnySim 1.1) if i go back to the DHCP table on the router config utility i have no name under that mac address.

This happens everytime i unlock a new iphone OTB name: iPhone and after the unlock: no name.

does anyone knows how to put a the name back? is this something AnySim does?

i will be cool you can put a perzonalized network name to it.

Thanks in advance.

Wink

I second that too. It would be nice to be able to see who's iPhone is connected my wireless network as I have 4 different iPhone users at home, using my wireless connection!

Any tweak to it for unloacked iPhone?

Default It's actually very easy !

- Just go to : Settings/Wifi
- Hit the blue arrow at the right of your chosen network to go to it's settings

You'll find the IP Adress, etc...

- Click on the Client ID (at the bottom) and type your iphone name
- Hit on the 'renew lease'

Voilą, you're done !

If your DHCP lease isn't over it may take a while for your name to appear on the list but afterwards it will be there every time.

Hope it helps !

Cool

I tried and I could put in the name into the Client ID for all 4 iPhones and it stayed permanently. But, my router's DHCP is still showing just "iPhone" on me, and simply a blank on other 3 iPhones

May be there are still some limitation or sorts...

Thats very weired, my iphone has a proper name identified on Itunes, but my router still recognize it with no name.

How did you unlocked yours? what FW version are you using?

I had a 1.0.2 unlocked with unlockfast.pxl then revirginized and updated it to 1.1.1 and unlocked with anysim 1.1

Hey guys, you can try to change the ComputerName or HostName or LocalHostName

Root>System>System>
Root>System>Network>HostNames>
