In iTunes select the restore-option in the iPhonemenu, Holding the select and sleepbutton on the iPhone also sets the phone in restoremode or something. (?)

I would guess you would go back to your original un hexedited iTunes program. Unedit your hosts file. Then reconnect your iPhone.

Let us know if that works.

I have done it a couple of times, you won't brick it.
First, you need to restore your iTunes.exe and hosts file. This is to make sure you won't active it again after you restore the iPhone. Then connect iPhone to iTunes, select restore option in the iPhonemenu and wait. The iTunes.exe will download restore image (about 90MB) from internet and restore you iPhone (this takes few minutes).

Did you active iPhone yourself? Did you modify iTunes.exe? If no, just ignore it. If yes and you don't have an original copy of iTune.exe, you can just re-install the iTunes. For the hosts file, just remove the line "127.0.0.1 albert.apple.com" from it.

Why are you having so much trouble doing the steps you performed before in reverse order? Glen told you exactly what to do, so do it.
