All, after countless months of tinkering with the iPhone in an attempt to try and get VM Notification to work, Apple has done it for us! I'm happy to report that I received my very first VM notification just minutes ago. Now I no longer have any excuses not to call people back....

gusano, if you've got your ear's on, you can exit minicom and forget all those AT commands you've learnt and delete that project in xcode for the redev of the commcenter.

Does this mean that operator messages work also?

There are reports in other threads that SMS that were blocked or partially blocked in 1.02 and 1.1.1 seem to be working in 1.1.2. However I can't confirm this as I'm remaining safely with 1.1.1 for now.

If you're talking about operator notifications informing you that you have an awaiting voicemail (Flash SMS messages), then I can confirm that these are working under 1.1.2 (to date, this is the first FW version that they work under).

What type of alert is this?

I'm running a 1.1.2 with on AT&T... When someone leaves me a voicemail, I get a "ping" tone, it vibrates and the badge graphic displays a # over Phone...

Is there something else?

YES YES YES! IT'S WORKS FOR ME TOO! NOW I CAN GET SMS from my bank!!!

If you're ATT, then you're not concerned by this, however it's one that more than 100k of us have been having to live with since day 1.

I've also received my first voicemail notification since back when I was on 1.0.2!

I have also noticed that when I click on one of my contacts in Google Maps it goes straight to their address correctly.

With the new OktoPrep technique, it should only be a few days until the activation/unlock is sorted out....must admit that the VM notification is a real relationship saver, since I no longer need to explain to Madame that the reason that I didn't call her back is because I didn't know that she called in the first place! Try explaining to an angry French woman that your phone doesn't support flash SMS messages and see what they says! It's not pretty.
