But the only way to transfer the sim contacts to your iphone is connecting the sim to your old phone.. downloading the contacts trhu Outlook or you can even use a Yahoo account or something like that.. and then connecting your Iphone and uploading all the information...
The Iphone doesnt use the contacts of the sim.. it just saves them straight into the phone..!!

I transfered phonebook from my old RAZR to my new iPhone through Windows address book(WAB). I don't know what brand phone you got, but with RAZR is really easy. I used Motorola's mobile phoneTools to sync RAZR with WAB and then connected my iPhone and synced it in iTunes. Tried to do that with my Mac but unsuccessful.
