noone? something with the coding? I need something I can tell them. I dont wanna be the tech-freak with an illegal phone. How are the chances that legal iPhones coming in november to germany have the same problem?

There's a problem with SMS's from numeric senders. It is not a problem with the phone being unlocked or illegal - it's a bug in the firmware. Search "notification" among others - voicemail notifications don't tend to work for the same issue. There is no easy workaround that I know of.
You should be able to read them by installing something like aSMS (http://code.google.com/p/iphone-sms/) This is not a great solution but it should work. I think it's very unlikely that the legal iPhones in Germany will have this problem. Numeric SMS's are common in Europe (but rare in US). They will fix this issue on the international versions of the iPhone. But again, it's not a problem due to unlocking. Valid AT&T iPhones have the same problem - numeric SMS's are just rare in the US. |
