Goal:
create ssh tunnel via mobile terminal (background it) --can do this.. Safari Add-On to allow the tunneling of the connection through the backgrounded ssh tunnel. Anyone know if such a add-on exists--extra bonus would be an extra option to route ALL traffic through the tunnel regardless of the application.. This can be accomplished with VPN--but I would like ssh tunneling... |

It might be possible to route all traffic through your SSH connection, by modifying /private/var/preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist to include a 'proxy'. See alk blog: SSH to get your iphone online via USB cable from about 20% into the page (where it says "How to force the iphone to use http proxy on its primary, gprs/edge interface?"). Of course you may need to adjust these settings to your particular situation, which is slightly different from the setup described there.
If you succeed in this, please post how you did it! Could be useful for many people.

Great resource, I've been trying to get it setup and working in my free time (just don't have much) as soon as I get it running will post results. I think this method 'should' work..
