It doesn't look like:
$ whois mcafeemobile.com [...] The Registry database contains ONLY .COM, .NET, .EDU domains and Registrars. Registrant: McAfee, Inc. 535 Oakmead Pkwy Sunnyvale, CA 94085 US Domain name: MCAFEEMOBILE.COM Administrative Contact: Inc., McAfee, netadmin@mcafee.com 535 Oakmead Pkwy Sunnyvale, CA 94085 US +1.4089928100 Technical Contact: Inc., McAfee, netadmin@mcafee.com 535 Oakmead Pkwy Sunnyvale, CA 94085 US +1.4089928100 McAfee mobile is a Mobile R&D team inside McAfee. So the app is from McAfee but, as it has been said in the splash screen and in the about box, is still in beta. |

I contacted McAfee customer service, and they told me it was real and in development. Its main use to is to find the few known iPhone viruses. So it's not a fake! I spent an hour on hold to find this out.

) and I have never had a single virus. I should have had 10000's of them from the websites I visit (For hacks), but I have never had one on my PC. And I am sick of the stereotype that macs do not get viruses. They do, but not enough people (present company excluded) use the OS. Is the stats for Windows still triple over mac? As for the other known viruses you should probably use my bestfriend Google for that . But you should probably use the scanner if you use your phone as a storage device (like i do from time to time.) And the iPhone is using a modified version of OSX so it may not have all the security features as the full blown version. I have only had a hackint0sh for a few months, but it does seem a little different than the iPhone. Sorry I this post is not making any since, I have not slept in a while and I have had a lot of caffiene lol

McAfee also has an app called "Stinger Mobile" I have no clue what stinger is, since I have never even heard of it. I will warn you that I did (last week) install iVirusScan, Stinger Mobile, and UNINSTALLED HWpen and I got the Spinning Wheel of Death. But I believe it was the uninstaltion of HW that caused it.

Well it isnt neccessarily unofficial since they told me it wasnt a scam, but I would call it official. I guess my last sentence doesnt make much since, but it did in my mind,:p

Just tried. Install and then removed. Looks like it does not hurt my iPhone.
Fortunately. http://digg.com/apple/The_very_first...ative_software Anyway, I think this is still essential when iPhone becomes more popular:hack: |
