I am curious if anyone has been able to do VOIP or Skype calls from an iPhone and with what tools and web sites. I found a few, but they all seem to have issues:
1) skype4iphone: won't do true VOIP through the wifi as it wants me to enter a phone number and will cause Skype to charge me SkypeOut charges, even if I am just calling someone on Skype on a computer from the iphone 2) phonegnome: Appears to not be processing registrations. I didn't get the registration email and I email them and they ignore. 3) Fring: Has bugs that prevent the transfer of the Skype buddy list to the iphone and no way to dial a skype user ID not in buddy list. Useless until fixed. Any other ideas? |

Been facing quite a few issues with Fring myself. Skype call would crash my app and the volume of iPhone goes to nill everytime I start Fring.
Waiting for the next update from Fring.

hi
I'm fairly new to iPhone.but have learnt a lot from this forum.I crashed and restored my iPhone within 5 days of getting it.must add I was an avid HTC user and have extensively modified my phones.now new to apple. Im using fring and have added my gtalk and yahoo friends.chat is fine but voice calls are not too good. Too much static and voice is not always clear. May be because I have only a 512 DSL line for wifi. Me waiting for fring update too Nash |
