Default itunes update. is it ok to update?

When i connect my 3g iphone to itunes, it states that an update to the carrier setting is available, install now? Last time i updated, it bricked my iphone. i have jailbroken my phone but it it is still on the 2.30 baseband, so i'm using a turbo sim card with my tmobile account. Could someone please advise me as soon as possible if it is ok to update with itunes. Thanking you in advance.

Why take the risk when your phone is currently working?

I would suggest NOT updating, as the millions of other threads from people saying "I updated, now I'm locked out" say, and all have the answers of "Do not update".

It may be ok to update, but there is also a chance that it will lock your phone, so I suggest just leaving it as it is and not updating!

Ok. I thought when an update is available, i "had" to update, but I will not. Thank you for your response and time.

No problem, keep your eye on the forum, it may appear that it will be ok to stick that update on your iPhone, but make sure you get confirmation first, otherwise you could be locked out - and no one wants that :-)

I can't 100% guarentee this but I'm pretty sure carier settings are okay. The general consensus seems to be that it's a very small download that doesn't seem to do anything (atleast anything harmful) to your iPhone.
