Default Gevey & T-Mobile UK

Hi Guys

I recently bought a Gevey sim adapter for my iphone (02.30.03 baseband). It works exceptionally well and the signal strength is superb as is call clarity. However I cannot get Edge or 3G and I can browse the net at 2G speeds.

Is there anyway to get 3G up and running or do I have to forsake my T-Mobile account and move to o2, which I really don't want to do.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Nobby,

I am interested in knowing if it still has been working fine for you over last few days?

I am thinking of buying one of these and will also be using a T-Mobile UK sim.

I do not mind havning no 3g/edge at the moment as I got the iphone for free.

Any info is much appreciated.

Hey Jonny

Well the Gevey Plus 2 is still working for me on T-Mobile extremely well except no 3G. I tried a Vodafone UK sim and that worked briefly but stopped working after a while with no 3G but I could access the Internet. Last night I was able to use an O2 PAYG sim that I had from way back without the Gevey. This morning it stopped working with 'Sim card registration failure' in both the iPhone and a Nokia. I think O2 may have blocked it....

However the T-Mobile SIM just keeps going and I can make/receive calls, send emails and texts without any problems. I've been reading several posts on the web that the Gevey Plus 2 stops working after a few days. I'm now thinking of getting an O2 simplicity sim to use with the iPhone and port T-Mobile across.....It's far too much hassle methinks...with the piggy back cards...

Thanks Nobby.

How long have you had yours? Also heard that many of these sim solutions give up after a very short period of time.

What do you mean when you say 'Port T-mobile across'?

It is because I have also thought of doing the same with an o2 sim

I bought mine on Friday....

I'm seriously thinking of porting my number to an o2 simplicity tariff but I really like T-Mobile who have been a great provider....

I'm sick of Apple and o2's tie in....but I want an iPhone.... :-(

I know the feeling Nobby!

Before you by the simplicity sim do you know about the o2 iphone pay as you go sims? You get unlimited 3g for a year with them. Search ebay for iphone 3g pay as you go sim.

Also, do you mind if you can keep me posted of how the gevey sim adapter is working for you. If you do decide to get an o2 tariff I would be more than willing to buy the sim adapter off you if it has been working on T-Mob UK.

Thanks again

Thanks Jonny

I'll let you know about the T-Mobile SIM - I did have a couple of slight issues this morning with 'No SIM' on the display but I think that was because I was in a tunnel. It's now working without a glitch...

I did not realise about the PAYG unlimited 3G....hmmmm let me check it out. I'll let you know what I find.

Ye the iphone pay as you go sims are what come with the official iphone pay as you go deals that people buy. Alot of people buy them and put there o2 contract sim in so have the sim card spare.

They just require one £10 top-up to get the free 3g for 12 months aswell as free acess to BT's Cloud wifi network.

I have ordered myself a gevey plus 2 sim to give it a go. If no luck I am going to use one of the o2 iphone pay as you go sims.

Keep me posted with how its working!

Good stuff Nobby,

Was wondering if you would be willing to sell the sim to me? Could pay via paypal etc if you like. Would be good to get a Gevey which I know has been working with a T-Mob UK sim already.

Thanks, Jon

P.s - I also have one of those o2 iphone pay as you go sims with the free 3g. Bought it off ebay a couple of days ago but have not used it as am going to try the Gevey first. Could exchange also if you wish. Jon

Also, did you have to change any settings on the iPhone before you used the Gevey? The one I will be using has been used for about 20mins by my father who doesnt have a clue how to use it! It therefore has o2 settings currently. Matter of resetting? Thanks again!
