I've had the new I-Smartphone solution ("3G Storm") working in my phone for 2 days now... I haven't attempted 3G, but with EDGE, I've got incoming and outgoing calls and data, no problems. Hasn't required a reset yet.
However, when the SIM is installed, I cannot EVER pick up a GPS signal, using Motion-X GPS Lite (don't know if there's a better tool for GPS info). Just get network triangulation. But if I remove the SIM, I can pick up satelites within a minute or two. Reinserting the SIM. I hadn't seen anyone else mention GPS flakiness with these solutions.... Is this a common/logical problem? I don't know exactly how the GPS radio/processor integrates with the GSM chip. Also, my phone can barely hold a charge overnight (No usage, wifi off, good GSM signal, no SSH or other background software intalled). However, I've never used this phone prior to installing the I-smartphone, so this could have been a pre-existing battery problem. Just thought I'd check if battery problems are known while I'm at it. Any input? GPS or Battery problems common? Thanks! |

I would try restoring it to a fresh state... you never know what was running on it before. |

Unfortunately, as Zf loves to predict, the sim solution has started getting flaky after the 3 day honeymoon period. Losing signal on an hourly basis, EDGE doesn't work at all now. Even after reseting the phone and using the sim in another, valid, phone. But, such is the way with these things. Here's hoping for a software unlock someday... |
