It will work with all other GSM carriers, but since ATT requires activation via itunes, bypassing it with pwnage will cause the sim to not be recognized. I believe its ATT network set up that way, so you cant use the sim out of your AT&T motorola razr and put it in your iPhone... they want to lock you into all the heavy internet fees and all to use the iphone...

You may want to try it with the virgin sim like ad1tya suggested... not sure if that will work, but its worth a shot

Something VERY VERY weird happen to my phone the other night.
Rather my SIM (Airtel.. my phone is locked with Vodafone)

So, I just finished talking on the phone, and I turned off the screen.
About 2 minutes later, I wanted to make another call, and I realised a "No Service".
So, I restarted the phone. I had 1 bar, and no Carrier Logo this time.

I was stumped.

I removed the Airtel SIM Card along with the VirginSIM, and put my original Vodafone back in. It worked, I had network.

So, I put the VirginSIM and Airtel back in, and again 1 bar, no carrier name.
I tried the SIM alone in another phone (LG something or the other that my sister uses). Nada, no signal at all.

I immediately called my friend whos on Airtel and in my area, and his phone was working.

The entire night and next day the Airtel SIM Card didnt work for me. That night, I popped it back in with the VirginSIM and voila, it started working again?..

I dont get what happened....

Either the Tower near my area was down for an unusually long time (and my friend got reception from another tower), or my Airtel SIM card died for a while?

This is VERY VERY weird, I guess from my past experience a few years ago, when the network is not very stable in China, it happened to me twice.

It does not look like caused by Virginsim because your sim card did not work in a normal cellphone. What I guess is that your subscriber information , for some reason, e.g. one of the operator's computers crash & your subscriber data was inside, your subscriber data was not transmitted to the cell station & so the cell station would not allow you to "log into" their network.

Your friend's Airtel network is OK because his data was not in the same computer as yours.

This is my guess, I hope it will not happen to you again!

After buying the Normal & the free high speed Virginsim from ebay, I let my friend to try the normal speed for a few days while I keep the high speed Virginsim for myself.

Then today we have a speed race between the normal & high speed Virginsim, the result was surprise enought to make this poor guy want to buy one piece of high speed Virginsim for himself.

My iPhone with high speed Virginsim got signal in mere 2 seconds after the boot up,& my friend's iPhone with the normal one spend 6 seconds or so to get signal.

I just lost my edge icon today. Phone still works though as well as sms messages too... may be smething in my area, or maybe my tzones is failing. reboot doesnt fix it. On modmyi people that have experienced this say that they put it in a tmobile phone and surf for a min and then it works again

You situation is a bit abnormal, may be due to your have used Pwnage Tool for activation or jailbreak it.I suggest you first reverse your iPhone to as virgin as possible, e.g. restore your iPhone with iTunes. Then just activate your iPhone with iTunes (activation will not ask you to input any data & you do not need to be a subscriber to AT & T etc). Then unlock your iPhone with VirginSim. Try to use Edge with any setting, if EDGE does not work , then in the network>APN, input the data according to your network you are using.

I have PM you the link to get your APN.

Modify yor iPhone a bit by a bit & only when necessary. This could pin point what steps cause the problem.

Although VirginSim has been well tested, sometimes it still difficult for us due with some modified iPhone. I hope the restoration will work for you.

I think 2 seconds is fast but even 6 seconds is not a big difference. Mine is not as fast, but I think is adequate.

I checked at ebay today, VirginSim is not cheap, I will not pay so much for a few seconds faster in signal search.

I restored 4 times already. Same result... sometimes I get the edge icon back, then it disappears later... I will sometimes have a connection to an data ip address, yet no data will come though..
I should have called tmobile before I did all that cause I hate getting all my apps back and setting them up how I like em...

I contacted tmobile and they said since the 30th they have had a massive tzones outage in many areas with no ETA on a fix... Ive been having problems since the 30th so this is probably whats happening to me.. so its network related. Virgin sim still rocks.

I think that since the edge outage my battery has been draining alot faster. maybe cause the phone is constantly looking for the edge signal, but cant find it?

I do not intent to change your point of view about pricing,
you don't know what fun you are missing until you have tried the Virginsim high Speed.

A supercar could be twice the price of an ordinary sport car, but the 0-100km time different may be only 1 sec., this is the 1 sec. that people pay money for. It is the not a how many sec. faster issue, it is a win or lose issue. Winning by 1 sec. is winning, losing by 1 sec. is losing.Winning is satisfying, that is what I am after !

To be faster in signal serach is one of the reason why my friend want to buy the expensive Virginsim, stable & reliable is also a important. I have tried Virginsim for one week now, it is trouble free until now, I am very happy with it.
