Hello everyone just wanted to extend a thank you to everyone that provided guides and hints on this site. It really helped the process along.
Because of the guides and some trial and error there are now two more iPhones on the Rogers network. Some of the things I learned installing the TurboSim: 1) When cutting sims use a pair of very sharp scissors and cut out a rough guide of the 9mm x 10mm piece then use an knife to shave out any adjustments. 2) Use iNdependence to install SSH, SFTP as it is a fantastic graphical way to speed things up. 3) Download a SFTP client such as Fetch for OS X as dealing with the file system graphically is quite a time saver. In fact if you are less comfortable about issuing chmod commands through SSH, Fetch will allow you to modify file permissions simply by getting info on a file. I just had one quick question and wanted to see what other people have experienced. Right now the phone is running 1.0 with the TurboSim. I am going to upgrade the phone to 1.02 but was wondering if anyone else has done the same thing. I assume I can just pop out the TurboSim combo, put the AT&T sim back in and restore the phone then upgrade it. My question is after generating another iSign activation can I just put the TurboSim combo back in or will I have to go through the process of dealing with the AT&T sim and Applesaft again? I would assume not as Applesaft is on the TurboSim and its not like the IDs stored on the TurboSim will change after a version upgrade. Correct? -Digital-Avatar |

i did the exact procedure with turbosim from 10.0. to 1.0.1 and later to 1.0.2: assume you had itunes 7.4.1 intalled when you first broke into your iphone and unlocked it. if not and you were doing that with itunes 7.3.2 and independence prior to 1.1, you need some extra steps. is here to be found in the forum. first pull out then the double turbosim/my simcard, reinsert att's card and do a restore to 1.0.2. basically you have to (re) install 7.3.2 and do the restore with 7.3.2. then load itunes 7.4.1 and do the restore again. cause the iphone then will not display the option, you have to hold home- and start-button, start itunes 7.4.1 and then (still holding the buttons on the iphone) connect iPhone and iTunes. iPhone will fall into restore modus, as will itunes. do the restore again and ten follow the direction below. get itunes 7.4.1 first cause there are some post talking about problems between itunes 7.4.1 and independence 1.2.1_a. Worked for me though there is more on the procedure in the forum iPhone is then locked again, just att simcard in, all additional apps are gone. Use iActivator 1.2.1_a to do activation (with inserted att card). restarted the iphone, switched att sim for turbosim/my sim - done. then i connected to itunes and setup a new phone instead of using the backup, cause i tried so many apps and wanted a fresh phone. after that itunes/itunes helper got shut down and i installed App Tapp installer aso. you can use independence aswell and install ssh again etc. just dont do that when firmware 1.1.1 comes out

I think the turbo sim people will be the only ones with unlocked phones using the 1.1.1 firmware. That is assuming it is still jailbreakable.
I wish apple would just release it already, so we can see if we will forever be stuck on 1.0.2 or not. |

My iPhone has been officially activated using an AT&T GoPhone contract, so maybe it won't work with "hack" activated iPhones after the FW 1.1.1 update. Anyway: you can't even activate the iPhone with the FW 1.1.1 right now, unless you have an AT&T contract, so this whole discussion is actually worthless. I may take the plunge and try it but I don't feel very good about it, honestly. |
