If rebooting the baseband skips the locking check, then couldnt we come up with a software fix to reboot the baseband without a sim-proxy?

First of all this is not the thread to ask for sim samples. Secondly we don't know if their solution actually works until one of the reliable testers get one. Thirdly he didn't post tech details just a general idea.

So.. we're still in the same spot. Stay away from *sim solutions.

To report, after 24 hours StealthSim can still pick up a signal. (O2 prepaid without Edge or 3G, UK). However, I am being very very cautious with it. I am turning on Airplane Mode whenever I don't need to use it (I am still using my normal SonyE phone)...

Because, when you have a signal, even without edge or 3G or wifi, GPS works nice, and with things like RunKeeper.com

So to be honest, I am very cautious but at the same time minimising my exposure to the network.

Don't worry, I will continue to test it more thoroughly over the next few weeks.

I just don't want to lose the signal over the next few days because... it feels so good to have some sort of working iPhone 3G, even for just a few days LOL. I love teh iPhone 3G.

Please create a new thread where *sim solutions tested by your "reliable" testers show positive. Thanks

There is no positive. All the solutions tested so far don't work.

Maybe I have another point of view.

After dumping the baseband logs, I found two variables fLastKnownServingPlmn and fHomePlmn which are quite self-explanatory. The *sim I am testing out required me to put it into an ordinary phone and manually select my network thus writing my network's MCC/MNC to fLastKnownServingPlmn. The *sim fakes fHomePlmn to 101.

The function of data roaming is to enable data in networks other than your home network, so if the home network is faked to 101, which the network you use is impossible to be, data roaming must be enabled to turn on data.

Just sharing my opinion

I was referring to the faking of IMSI in your post a few posts previous to the one I quoted, sorry if I misunderstood you.
