I'm using the new TurboSim v3

Firmware 2.2 (2.28 Baseband)
3G off
-> Outgoing calls (ok)
-> Incoming calls (ok)
-> Internet (x)

3G on
-> Outgoing calls (ok)
-> Incoming calls (x)
-> Internet (ok)

if anybody has a 3g solution? YOU'RE WELCOME!

as you said, few days... now doesn't want to get signal, no way so far

I tried putting sim in normal phone, then iphone 2.2 again... nothing. dead.

I hope 2.28 wont be that huge problem for dev team

edit2: when signal goes off, put in unlocked phone, call, then again in iPhone with UniversalSIM... and hope you don't need to do that every day.

VirginSIMs work quite well. The Dev-Team recommends against using those SIM proxies... but i wanted to use the phone. It was such good luck that they worked out the unlock solution!

How come! mine is working for full 6 days already with the same solution (baseband 02.28.00) Universal SIM v600. No loss of signal and full strength all the time. In any place around the city (Montreal - Canada). What's the explanation?

All networks behave differently and will need to refresh the TIMSI at different time intervals - that's why that fail solution should never have been used in the first place

Got this solution working since last friday. Almost everything seems to be working fine except airplane mode and that I have to have the so called DATA ROAMING on for 3g to work. I've just contacted costumer service about these things. I'll remort on them as soon as I get an answer.

The solution I posted before for baseband 02.28.00 with Universal v600 is still working flawlessly for already 2 weeks (3G disabled for incoming calls). Network: Fido.

I had an older Turbosim and O2 PAYG phone. Turbosim lasted about one month before the "No service" error appeared.

It worked on the following networks before a final "No service" appeared which never fixed itself (UK/Spain/Hong Kong).

Indonesia (various) - 2G only, no data
Hong Kong (CSL) - 3G/Data/Messaging - worked but unstable
Japan (Softbank) 3G only - no 2g networks in Japan (one time "No service", next time worked fine)
UK (Vodafone) 3G/Data/Messaging/Location - worked no problems

I recently bought a new chip (unknown make, but most likely to be of Chinese origin) for HKD 180 (c. 16 EUR/GBP). Phone is running on software version 2.2 and modem firmware 2.28. Current status for CSL in Hong Kong is:

Carrier selection now appeared
3G - outgoing and incoming calls are fine
Data - fine
Airplane mode on/off - no problems

Let's see what happens next....

After some more days so far, this xSIM seems to work quite fine with some minor and relevant relevant considerations.

Airplane on/off won't work. A reboot is needed when back on.
DATA ROAMING needs to be switched on otherwise even in your native network 3g won't work... any clue why?
iTunes won't allow syncing unless you don't switch on airplane mode which combined with the previous issue turns into a high unconfortable solution. Everytime you wanna sync your phone you must switch on airplane mode and then afterwards you need to reboot the phone as it will flip out with airplane mode.
I've also started to notice that my battery runs down much faster. It won't even last 8 hours with this solution and 3g active. Anybody help, is this behaviour normal??
As for costumer service I'm highly disappointed... They seemed really serious but so far no response. I've contacted them three times without any luck eventough I think all these matters are quite relevant.

Wrap up: pricy and partially working solution with some issues still unsolved and with a bad costumer support.
