Default Universal SIM

After 8 weeks using Universal SIM 1, v.500. Verdict : Pass
Everything working very well in Fido network, Montreal, Canada.
The original iPhone 3G from Rogers. iTunes upgrade 2.1 then Jailbreaked with
Quickpwn2.1. 3G networking was too good, very fast but, very expensive. I got a bill: $600. So I stopped it right away! Why, if I can have WiFi at home and at work without charge? Finally I got it... 3G is for rich people, like Lehmann Brothers execs.!

Hello,

in the light of your post, does Anybody know how to decide WHEN the iPhone can connect to the Internet via 3G or via wifi or not at all?

Thanks in advance,

Marc

If in settings you activate both 3G and wifi you will have both available: wifi when you're in range or 3G when you're not, or if you put wifi connection off. If you put 3G off, as I did, after reboot you wont have any more 3G but keep wifi connections as they're available.

Right, but what about GPRS? When there are no wireless networks around and, say, open up the mail, even if my 3g is off, won't it automatically try to sync over GPRS?

Well here in Australia with my locked AT&T phone..the any-network version 2 SIM is working fine..incoming, outgoing, sms, 3G data, moving around the city between towers.. Only annoyance is something that even legit unlocked Aussie iPhone 3G users have reported. When using legit unlocked phones on the local 3 network and after placing a call you get a somewhat annoying "call forwarding active" dialog box that needs to be dismissed. Not a big deal as I wait for a repsonse from Apple/AT&T management about unlocking my phone or just waiting for the unlock team..but for now I'm happy enough...

GPRS depends on your data plan and goes with data services from your provider (G3 or EDGE). This is what I put off because of steep cost. With wifi I can have both mail sync and internet connection for free (of course you have to be in range, in my case, home and work, or coffee shop).

I'm starting to have some trouble with universal-sim..

I'm getting a lot of no service messages, plus signal losses, and error sending SMS.. I'm on Telcel (Mexico).

Hey Guys,

i have got a tiny little question. I bought one 3G 8GB from ebay which is in Fido network. i havent activated it yet(still in box). so if i buy a turbo sim and put my rogers sim(pay as you go which i am using), will the phone work as pay as you go? Or i have to MUST activate in FIDO network first and then use rogers sim card?
