I screwed myself on accident and recently updated my baseband to the new one from 2.1 fw. Wanted to kick myself in the arse. Decided to test one of those sites that claims to unlock the 3G via software custom firmware. Well so happened that it didn't do anything buy lock my phone. Tried to install back my custom firmware and kept getting error 1600 or something. Only way I found to do it was to quickpwn then install my custom firmware, but in order to quickpwn I had to upgrade my firmware via iTunes. If I wouldve slowed down I probably couldve found another way. But I was frustrated and impacient. Oh well. I better hope try find a way to downgrade the baseband or something. or if all the threads weren't being locked maybe the xsim developers can improve their products and make them reliable enough for us until a software unlock breaks.
At least my virgin sim is holding up. And anxiously awaiting the next set of updated samples.

I have firmware 2.1 baseband.
I upgraded on purpose to see if universal sim works or not.
It works fine. Yes, EDGE sometimes is not working, but it is very rare case.
I think I reboot my phone once a week because of the EDGE.
But 2.1 firmware is still buggy anyway. You do have to reboot once in awhile.
Some app crashed all the time.

I have 50 of the Chinesse Gevey 3G.
I just need an iPhone 3g.
I am reciving ones and a lot of those.

Verdict: So far, so good.

Comments:
1. No Carrier Selection menu.
2. No STK Menu.
3. Airplane Off then back ON requires reboot.
4. Found signal really fast. Practically have signal even before boot is complete. Very good point.

All the samples have a black line on the bottom. One had a redline on the top, this one doesn't work. NO SIM error, no matter what I do.

Sorry double post. Anyways, there's a new version of virgin sim? Whats the changes? Thanks.

UPDATE:

I mentioned earlier that the one marked in RED didnt work. I messed with it a bit more and now it works. I put it in, NO SIM. I turn on Flight Mode. Wait about 10 seconds so it shuts down all the communication stuff. Then turn it back off, NO SIM error is gone. Reboot and signal came. Can all of you with the none working RED marked HIGH SPEED VirginSim try this. Put the sim in, let it say no sim, turn on flight mode, wait, turn off flight mode, reboot. Just checking if mine is just a fluke. Thanks.
