I can see the "E" icon on your picture, which mean you are using the slow EDGE for internet, which is faster than GPRS, but much slower than 3G HSDPA which theorectically is 3.6M in iPhone 3G. I guess your operator do not have 3G signal , or no 3G HSDPA there. You have turn on the 3G mode, but if the 3G network is not available, the iPhone will select the 2G network automatically. You better check with your operator in your location to see if 3G network that match the iPhone 3G frequency is available there. Or may be your *sim does not support 3G network at all. The *sim will lock down your iPhone to 2G network to cheat the network & the *sim user as well. Ask your operator which phone model can use the 3G network, then I can check what frequency this phone can support to see whether the frequency supported is same as iPhone 3G. |

Try cleaning your SIM card with alcohol. I've had the same issue. One of my T-Mobile sims was not detected, the other was. I'm not sure why. |

Phone calls IN/OUT: working SMS IN/OUT: working Data 3G(not availible on US Tmobile Data EDGE: working(using t-zones hack) GPS: Working(took about 2 mins to register blue dot and is not very accurate as blue dot move a little even while I am stationary, which probably is no fault of the virgin-sim but ) Note: Picked up network as soon as I slid in the card. No dead zones in my house so I cant comment on signal recovery just yet... but Ill be in the hospital in 2(plenty of dead zones there) days so Ill let you know. When toggling airplane mode ON/OFF, phone will not regain signal until phone is rebooted. (Premature First Impression & ease of use/installation) Initial Verdict: PASS I will update regularly on my experience Will try cleaning the sim card and attempt to use the high speed virgin sims at a later time. SIM connectors are very hard when new. Even SIM cards are hard to remove and inserted. The connectors will bend SIM adapters. The solution is to insert/remove the original sim card 20 times or more until they get lose. Then the adapter should be inserted. No more bending issues.

Anyone tested on auto-roaming for different sims solutions? I have tested on Rebel SIM for roaming to Malaysia (using Singapore SIM card) and not very successful. My phone is AT&T locked.
It works only from Digi EDGE network and not Maxis or Celcom. For Digi it works on the cell where is has obtained the network access, when move to new cell, it shows No Service sign. Still not a good solution. Please let me know your test if available. |
