Zf_ does not like the SIM solution because they compete with no existing solution released by the iPhone Dev Team, fake IMSI or not, that's his real reason. He behaves like a 12 year old on puberty.

The reason why there has been no software solution released yet is because iPhone Dev Team and the rest of the teams don't share information, and are competing. For what? Bragging rights? For being the first?

Congratulations, you've been scammed
So you're saying the Dev Team wont block the baseband update that they've included in the past pwnage tools for 2.1 and below?

I don't like the fail SIMs solutions because they 1) don't work 2) put your contract at risk 3) put your phone at risk and most importantly 4) no fail vendor admits that since it's just another fail get rich quick scheme for them - thankfully the circus will pack and go home in a few months with 2.2.

I really don't see them going anywhere if there's no unlock solution. These sim solution will probably stick around and continue to improve slowly whether or not you decide to bash them and close every thread with them on it.

Totally agree with PSLiNK & SpoolyET, I can smell something has turn sour. Zf_ is biased against sim solution, I think this attitude is bad for a moderator.

Sim solution has doing some bad & nice work so far, why not let the *sim user decide whether they want to wait for software unlock (which is as illegal as *sim solution in some country. Unauthorised modification of iPhone software IS illegal.)

SpookyET & others are helping us to find out a good *sim solution, & still we can choose to use it or not!

Zf_ what about putting warranty at risk when software unlocking the phone? I own an iphone 3g and pwning it and soft unlocking it scares me to death... I don't rely either on sim solutions as they fake network IDs and stuff but are software solutions reversible at all?

man I haven't pwned it yet as this is not clear to me...

your opinion would be very much appreciated

thanks

Don't get me wrong dude, i honestly understand your opinion. But do you think, the most ppl here are going to update their baseband and possibly loose a the ability in future to use the softunlock their phones and finally get a rig of those adapters? I don't think so, at least it wouldnt make very much sense.

And so the ball continues to roll..

Zf is keeping a close eye on any sim thread. Hopefully he doesn't close this one as well. I'm sure if he had his way, he'd close this whole subforum down. But as of now, he might as well have, cuz there's no other active thread besides this one. He closes them ALL.

Just don't update the baseband then!
Buy one phone with 2.1 or previous baseband if you want one 3G iPhone just in case.

I read somewhere it said that apple needs to make some change to the hardware in order to block sim solution.

Anyway, who knows.
We'll see.

My iPhone 3G still working well on US t-mobile with Universal Sim.
Non-cut version will come to my front door in couple days :-).

If my phone get locked, I'll just use prepaid AT&T or go back to my 2G iPhone. Yes, I still have that old model :-). So I really don't care. Just wanna test these sim solutions.
Yes, it is failed on some conditions, but It works on what I need.

Contract? I don't even care. There are Verizon and Sprint out there. T-mobile CSR tells me to unlock iPhone to use with t-mobile and stay with them.
Jail? I don't think they want to put me in jail eating their free food because of a phone and a network.
Fine? What I have is my car. Nothing else they can take from!!!

Lolz, I am bored! I am just joking around.

I highly doubt ANY carrier would give a shit as long as you stay on their network. Fake IMSI or not - theyre getting your business and $$$$$$$.

My latest convo with Tmobile included:

Rep: I see that you're using the iPhone 3G through the IMEI records
Me: Yes I am
Rep: Wow, thats very cool, how is it with T-mobile?
Me: Works just fine, too bad the 3G isn't compatible with your guy's band
Rep: Yea, unfortunately we use a band most 3G phones out right now do not support. I'm glad you decided to unlock the iPhone and stay with us!
Me: Yep, ATT is a rip off, I trust German companies more than American
Rep: Ha
