Just want to point out that I have a Universal Sim with the 550 firmware installed and it worked right out of the box from day one in my iPhone 3G on Tmobile. Everything works, EDGE, location services, reacquire signal after no signal, etc. The only quirk is that if I shutdown my iPhone, I have to enable airplane mode for about 10-15secs and then disable it for it to reestablish the connection with Tmobile.

did you enable 3g and data roaming? I had to enable both of those for it to get a signal after a reboot

I understand how bad you feel when your *sim stuck, I was in your bad position before & I broke my simtray. That is why I started to design my own no sim-cutting Virginsim. We choose this name because we want your iPhone & sim card remain as a virgin , no damage.

First, pls. tell me where is the *sim ic located? in the top middle or on top corner? Sim cutting needed? (Don't tell me which *sim you use, obviously it is not Virginsim)

The simtray stuck when pulling out is because the IC is too thick, it stucjk at the edge of the iphone slot. What I suggest is you push the simtray in a bit more (around 2mm), push the simtray away from the iphone edge. The purpose is to make a bigger gap between the IC & the iphone edge.

Then slide a piece of very thin plastic (e.g. another thin *sim) in between the IC & the iphone edge , jsut try to cover the whole IC. This should smoothen the IC's edge to make it able to slide over the iphone edge without being caught.

I hope this will help ,or I can send you a disassembled iphone photo on Monday to show you better picture of howto slide out the simtray with being stuck.

BR

Virgin-sim
Thank you for the help, but it came too late. I did open the phone, and the IC was stuck (in the middle). It was a universal sim. I put the phone back together and it works. The only problem is that it is raised on the right. I think I may not have put the cable that comes out when you remove the screen back properly causing it to be raised on the right. I want to fix that.

saw a youtube video of someone removing the screen by simply removing the 2 screws at the bottom, then using a suction cup and simply pulling the screen up. Then removing the sim tray, then pushing the screen back in and reinstalling the screws... took less than a minute.

I only have data roaming enabled. It's been working flawlessly for 13 days and counting.

enable 3g and shutdown and start it up again, see if you have to enable airplane mode to get signal again

Just tried it and after 5 mins I still had the no sim message with 3G and data roaming on. I should point out that I only the Universal Sim with 550 firmware but no custom settings for the iPhone as I don't have the Pkey programmer. But It's just a small inconvenience really. It will hole me off nicely until the Dev Team finds a way to unlock the 3G phones.

Check to see if it has moved and it's jammed in the tray.

Finally got my 3G iphone working! Seems like these SIM solutions are finally becomming a serious option for unlocking the 3G. Mine has been working perfectly for quite a while now. Im finally confident enough to sell my old ( 2G) iPhone
