I've been using StealthSIM SE with iPhone 3G for more than a month now, and I'm giving it up and got back to my iPhone 1rd generation.

Let me try to summarize my experience.

Voice, Data, SMS, even 3G works, no problem with the three major brazilian operators (TIM, Vivo & Claro).

But on all them I had constant "No Service" errors or "No SIM" errors. I had to reboot the iPhone 10 times a day to get the signal back. Some times I would only have voice service (no GPRS/EDGE/3G), usually a reboot would solve the problem.

I tried to stick a duck tape on the StealthSIM SE + SIM card to see if it would help, it got a little bit more stable but didn't have much improvement.

I also upgraded to, 2.0.1, 2.0.2 and now 2.1, same problems, so I'm giving up and will wait for a software unlock sollution.

My recommendation is to wait for the software unlock. Don't bother buying a SIM proxy that will need you to reboot your phone 10+ times a day or leave you with your sim tray stuck inside the iphone (I had to open my iphone once to get the sim out of the phone).

One more thing, StealthSIM SE did not work with my original SIM card (an old 64k SIM from TIM), it had a different circuit layout from AT&T and Rogers and I always had a 'No SIM' error. After buying a new SIM card (128k) with a circuit layout similar to Rogers/AT&T I got it to recognize the SIM card, but ran into the stability problems I've just described.

My $0.02

updated to 2.1 using pwnage, so far everything looks ok. Make sure to choose that you want to activate in pwnage\quickpwn so it creates the correct lockdownd file. If you didnt, use my lockdownd a few pages back

USim V5.50 works OK for me so far. Needed to turn data roaming on for home network data why?? and also dont get network selection screen. Didnt work on international roaming but only tried it once could have been bad luck showed 1 bar signal with no carrier name and then "No Service".

One other think i think Univeral sim is the only legal solution, as in it does not send any false IMSI nos to your carrier so i believe, although it does to your phone.

Is this the case or are there other should i say 'non-illegal' sims out there with regard to the network supplier?

Could somebody confirm it is 100% legal as per their website now

from what we saw it uses the same fail method (test IMSI + refresh) as the other ones

I've just updated my 3G iphone to 2.1. So far my iSmartphone sim proxy still works as usual. Data, SMS, Calls, everything still works. Not a fan of the new Edge icon tho.

I did notice something new, or maybe I just never noticed it before. In the Settings, General, About, screen, I see a new info, Carrier, mine says Carrier 2.6. Does anyone have the same info? Thanks.

@PSLiNK
Even i see in general carrier 2.6 but im using tornado sim, and one more thing very strange thing happened when i updated my iphone 3G to 2.1(5F136) the phone did not lock up neither did itunes show any error saying wrong sim, when my iphone was on 2.0.x and the first time i put the tornado sim in the iphone(un-pwned,virgin,not jailbroken) officially activated to ATT the iphone detected Tmobile but if i connected to itunes , itunes gave me a error message saying sim card is not supported , the iphone worked perfectly but itunes did not allow me to sync or do anything, so i had to pwn the iphone and also activate using pwnage tool. thats only when itunes started recognizing the phone, but now when i updated to 2.1 the phone and itunes recognized it as a genuine sim itself... dint lockup and allowed me to sync as if it was ATT card , i did not need to jailbreak it...2.1

did you update with a PWNED Firmware? Because with the PWNED Firmware, you get a custom lockdownd, and activation which allows it to use any sim and itunes will function normally. When your phone first came to you, it was activated with ATT sim, so it was locked to that sim. Anyways, can you everyone try to go to Settings, General, Date & Time? When i try to go to Date & Time, it just crash and go to springboard. Both my iphones are having this symptom after 2.1 update. Both iphones are 3G, haven't tried on my original iphone yet.

yes, thats because in pwnage for 2.1 you had "ACTIVATE" checked.

And PsiLink, it does not crash for me
