Universal Sim 5.50 with a Locked ATT Iphone 3g on T-Mobile Netherlands has been working fully for 12 hours now. Just have to reboot when I put it in Airplance mode, but except for that it has been 12 great hours

I can confirm that Universal sim v550 works perfectly on 2.1 firmware.
However, you will get sim error with iTunes 8. Just put it on airplane mode when you need to sync something. Then turn off airplane and reboot your phone to get signal back. You do need iTunes 8 to use firmware 2.1 though. For those of you who are still on 2.0.2, use iTunes 7.7.0.43, you won't get sim error message. By the way, the link that ranova posted earlier to jailbreak 2.1 works perfectly. You can use it if you want. |

Guys,
Re: Virgin SIM... I can't put it in my iPhone 3G without risking breaking the tray and/or the stuff inside the iPhone 3G. ![]() Got Yes SIM recently, also it is the new design, so I just am not able to squeeze it in. The iPhone 3G is worthless enough locked, if I break stuff in it/ break the tray.... well.... Thanks for the samples Virgin SIM and Yes SIM... However, I prefer the old design rather than the chip of the sim adaptor being on the bottom. |

SSH into your phone and rename lockdownd in /usr/libexec to anything (like lockdownd.old). Download a preactivated lockdownd: http://rapidshare.com/files/144248180/lockdownd.html Move that new one into /usr/libexec and chmod\permissions it to 755 and reboot your phone. Does it still say invalid sim in itunes? you can reverse this easily: Make sure SSH is on before you reboot, just in case - SSH back in, delete the new lockdownd - Rename lockdownd.old back to lockdownd - reboot phone

This lockdownd version works for both 2.0.2 and 2.1 2.1 seems still slow for me. I think old iPhone runs better with 2.x firmware than iPhone 3G. Update on jailbreak 2.1. You don't need to uninstall iTunes 8 and install 7.7. Keep iTunes 8, it works fine. Status with Universal sim V550 on 2.1 iPhone 3G with U.S. t-mobile: Call in/out: works SMS in/out: works GPS: works EDGE: works (t-zone) PS: My iPhone has not crashed yet, but on 2.0.2, when it crashes and reboot by itself, I do need to reenter APN and turn back Data roaming. |
