i did quickpwn my phone in windows. i noticed that the windows version works a tiny bit better than the mac one. used it on a 2g and it did not fully activate my phone.

i have been out of coverage with the no signal one for a few minutes, about 5-10 minutes and it quickly gained it back after about 1 minute. i did not touch the phone at all.

i have to remove the card because when i connect the phone, it tells me i do not have a propper sim card.

one thing, whenever i remove the sim card, have to introduce the apn settings all over again. i do not have to reinstall tzones hack, but i have to type in the apn.

I agree that the No. 2 design has failed , not because of the height of the chip, it failed because the way you insert the Virgin-sim, if you know how to insert it propertly, it will avoid the first catch on the front of the FPCB .

Our instruction is to place the Virgin-sim alone on the sim holder, then insert both Virgin-sim & the holder half way into the iPhone, then you now slide your sim card fully into the slot, push it right into the iPhone. Even without any sanding , the Virgin-sim will go into the iPhone smoothly. Our idea is proving a more using friendly product & of course to make some money at the same time.

Since the iphone slot is so tight now for both the *sim & the sim card, our idea is to let the *sim walk in first, then the sim card follow, so they go into the iPhone one by one with any squeezing.

For no. 1 design, did you test it on 2G network or 3G network? For this sample, we have not add the 3G network data inside, it should only work on 2G network.
And theoretically it will get 2 G signal very fast, as tested in China.

I shall send out the latest 2G/3G Virgin -sim by next 2 days as we have make some improvement on the FPCB design.

Pls. let me know if you need further information.
Well, i didnt expected it to be that hard to slide in a sim+chip Anyhow, i tested it on both, 2G and 3G in none of them the phone is able to connect to my carrier. I tested it with 2 different sims, just to avoid it being a problem of the carrier.
As you said, i'll wait for the updated chips and start testing it again

can you find an area where you lose signal for 5+ minutes and see if you can regain signal?

For the GPS, does yours show a pinpoint exact blue dot or a general area circumference. Best way to check is walk outside your home with wifi and see if it finds you right on with the maps loaded

oh and there is a new version (v550), if you have a pkey, I would update your universal sim and do more tests

Out of these three "Yessim, Universal Sim & Tornado sim"... which one is the best for US T-mobile, 3G iPhone. (I know tmobile 3G isnt compatible, just concerned with edge, calling and sms)

I've searched high and low for a cheaper pkey or omnikey, but this one on eBay is your best bet:

HI GUYS... ok ive been pretty much posting all my problems and issues on the UNIVERSAL SIM FORUM... but ill share my results here because i am very happy with what i am experiencing so far.....

APPLE IPHONE3G 8GB
MODEL : MB046LL
2.0 FIRMWARE/1.45MODEM

NETWORK TMOBILE USA (with 5.99$ tzone plan)
UNIVERSAL SIM V540

USIM PURCHASED FROM http://www.skystartrade.com/
PKEY PURCHASED FROM (EBAY USER REBORN25)
*please note that shipping for the pkey reader took almost 2-3 weeks!!! so plan ahead... if you dont have

PREPARATION:
activate iphone with authentic att simcard..
jailbreak iphone with 2.0 ipsw.

1st install attempt.... made cutouts ... sanded down sim card... ADDED TAPE!...DO NOT ADD TAPE.... i got it stuck in my iphone.. and was worried when it was very hard to push out the tray... i resolved this by using tweezers and the sim removal tool together... becareful not to push to hard on the sim release as you can break the latch/return spring... .i just lightly tugged on the a portion of the sim tray at the same time.. it came out eventually...

2nd install attempt....sanded down the sim card so that no graphics are shown.. using 320 grit block... made the cut hole slightly bigger and cleaner with a dremel to fit the simcard.... now it slides in clean and perfect easy... took the sim out to test in old 2G iphone to make sure contacts hit.. and it works fine.....

SETTING UP UNIVERSAL SIM AND SETTINGS...
(hardware / windows xp / pkey reader purple )

PLEASE NOTE THAT for me out the box UNIVERSAL SIM does not work....
and i get a NO SIM CARD MESSAGE... so its not even detecting my sim card...i remove universal sim and it would detect my tmobile sim.... but no signal / or display of tmobile network settings

installed universal sim into PKEY READER (VISTA/XP compatible:purple color)
downloaded UNIVERSAL SIM program to set simcard... changed all settings to

USE ATR /SIM /USE STANDARD BAUDRATE 10K

AFTER 1 week of testing and trying to lock calls and loose service... nothing to report.. UNIVERSAL SIM has been working fine... edge hack from cydia works great.. only problem i am witnessing is MAIL app keeps crashing but that seems like a jailbreaking problem and i need to restore it... and unrelated to UNIVERSAL SIM

ok... didnt know i couldnt screen grab the locked page... so i shot it with my little digitl canon camera... looks like every other cheesy ghetto photo on intrawebz of proof that their phone is unlocked.. hahaa... (except i made a cool UNLOCKED wallpaper )

CALLS IN/OUT: WORKING
SMS IN/OUT: WORKING
EDGE IN/OUT: WORKING
(but please be careful if using boss prefs... seems buggy and had to restore phone to get edge back to working again but after that works fine 100%)
*note setting iphone in airplane mode disconnected me from TMOBILE and i had to remove sim/reinstall to unlock phone again

PLEASE NOTE THAT MY TEST WAS FOR TMOBILE USA..i am only 1 week into this unlock.. i will report any problems.. however it seems like once u get the damn thing going people tend to report less and less..

and onething i couldnt get to work was the TMOBILE BANNER... i was trying every trick to change the carrier logo to tmobile banner.. but cant figure it out... even went in with ssh to try and add it etc...

Can i already buy the new TornadoSim? It isn't in the line of gsm-traders and i don't know whether the new or the old sims are sold on tornadosim.net. By their description only the iPhone FW 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 are supported.
