Thank you for your feedback on tornadosim, you did test it on 3g? I think you did right? there is no way for usa iphone (tmobile) to test this at the moment.
Anyway, rep for you.... appreciate it. Quote:

lulz, even the chip design is fail now
it's getting better and betterI seriously hope Infineon wakes up and stops letting the SIM refresh the IMSI to the network when starting with a test IMSI to put an end to this misery and all this fail

unlockcellular, did you happen to have the chance to ship out samples to me? Thanks!
I ordered a universal sim to test that out on tmobile USA, it should be here this week. I can easily test the signal loss by just going in my bathroom

I did try to test it with Tornado sim and Universal Sim in Las Vegas. It could not pick up any 3G. By the way, v550 for Universal sim seems working great! Last edited by NewWayAround; 09-09-2008 at 06:07 AM. |

I sanded down not my SIM but the IC from Tornado SIM, and guess what. It worked.
It picked up 3G signal in the first try. I'm currently writing this post through NetShare app using Tornado SIM. 3G is picking up speeds of up to 100 Kbytes/s. So far so good... |

Yes, i did... 3G works. But Somehow (i didnt found the reason for it yet) there's a data problem appearing while switching celltowers, the data symbol (and connection) is just gone then, but only sometimes. Usually a reboot is enough to fix it, but again sometimes not even a reboot works.. And then, one minute to the next all is up and running again. But this just seems to happen if 3G is enabled, in 2G mode all seems to be fine.

Hmm... Still haven't got it. Not your fault, my country's mail service is even more fail than most...
Fedex or DHL, or otherwise it may never reach me, perhaps. |

The idea of our Virgin-sim to avoid cutting your sim, tha is why we call it a Virgn" sim. I agree that the No. 2 design has failed , not because of the height of the chip, it failed because the way you insert the Virgin-sim, if you know how to insert it propertly, it will avoid the first catch on the front of the FPCB . Our instruction is to place the Virgin-sim alone on the sim holder, then insert both Virgin-sim & the holder half way into the iPhone, then you now slide your sim card fully into the slot, push it right into the iPhone. Even without any sanding , the Virgin-sim will go into the iPhone smoothly. Our idea is proving a more using friendly product & of course to make some money at the same time. Since the iphone slot is so tight now for both the *sim & the sim card, our idea is to let the *sim walk in first, then the sim card follow, so they go into the iPhone one by one with any squeezing. For no. 1 design, did you test it on 2G network or 3G network? For this sample, we have not add the 3G network data inside, it should only work on 2G network. And theoretically it will get 2 G signal very fast, as tested in China. I shall send out the latest 2G/3G Virgin -sim by next 2 days as we have make some improvement on the FPCB design. Pls. let me know if you need further information. |
