Hi, just using my new iPhone 3G 8GB black, bought to someone with Rogers in Ottawa but I have an account with Fido in Montreal. I chose to install a Universal SIM (V.500) with my Fido SIM. I don't use data service, only phone and WiFi, both of which were working very well, without interruption for 4 days, the iPhone all the time on. To do the sync with iTunes in my computer (mac OSX Tiger) I had to put the phone in airplane mode, if not: message with incompatible SIM appeared in iTunes screen. After I had to reboot the phone. Then, this morning after charging, beginning 5th day: NO SIM message in the phone. After reboot, everything back to normal though. For how long? We will see. Should I update Universal SIM with v.540?

Activate and jailbreak with Pwnage Tool, so you won't get a SIM message on iTunes.

hey, i'm going to unlock my soon arriving iphone 3g at&t with a universal-sim and was going to ask something.
How is the best way to get it 100% syncing with itunes?
If i activate it with the at&t card and simply put in the universal-sim, so i can sync it with itunes without problems?
Or should i activate it with the jailbreak method?
hope to get help.

Attention to Junior Members. This is not a thread on how to sync with itunes, or syncyng problems. This is a thread to monitor and make observations regarding *sim solutions with iPhone 3G.

Regarding Universal SIM, 5 days and counting.

Calls In/Out: working
SMS In/Out: working
3G and Edge: working

YESSIM SUPPORT says he will send me a sample. As soon as I get it, I will give detailed feedback as I have for every other sim I've tested.

Tornado Sim update:

Calls in/out: still working
SMS in/out: still working
EDGE: still working

On T-Mobile USA

Every now and then I have to reboot the phone (No Sim error) other than that, it's much more convenient then most other sims. More info to come!

Default My experience with Sim Card

I have an Iphone 3G which I bought in the US, AT&T, I canceled the contract after 30 days and paid the ETF $175.00. So now I have a locked phone without a provider. I bought an ANY-Network card which arrived 8 days later (U.K to Germany). After installing the card my phone searched for a network and came up with all available networks in Germany, I selected my German provider Vodafone.de and Wow! It worked.
Take a closer look. I tried calling a few people, and they told me everything was fine, my number also displayed. Thinking this must really work I was happy and decided success at last. A few days later I had to leave on Business to Chicago. Thinking all was fine with my Iphone, I left my other mobile home. Once I arrived in Chicago I turned the flight mode off expecting my phone to log into the local network. It began searching and came up with all local networks but when I tried to choose one “Network lost” I then pressed “settings” it began searching again, when I selected another network same thing happened. Then I asked a friend to put my Vodafone card in his phone and make a call which he did and it worked. After returning the card to my Iphone and trying again the same problem repeated itself again. OK! Here I am business trip without a phone GREAT. A few days later I returned to Germany expecting my Iphone to log on to my network once on the ground but all I saw was “NO Service”, at home I took out the Vodafone card from the Iphone and placed it in my other mobile “No Service”. After talking to Vodafone we decided that the Vodafone card defective so I ordered a new one (free). In the mean time I have tried using a card from T-mobile at first it appears to work but then my kids told me that they tried calling me and the mail box picked up. Once again I placed the T-mobile card in my other mobile and it worked as published sms, voice mail and calls. So I placed it back in the Iphone. Guess What ? “No Service”
To make a long story shorter, after destroying 2 telephone cards, I decided to have a chat with Any-Network the person on the phone was very nice and assured me that this was not a common problem, I must have a defective Telephone card this call took place before I tried the T-Mobile card.

Hope you don’t have this problem.

Default Update : My experience with Sim Card

Yes, I did restart the Phone several times, each time I inserted the card to refresh the settings.
Update to my previous post. I’ve been mocking around a bit with my Iphone and maybe I’ve found a solution to half of my problem. My Iphone is Pwn-ed, Jail-Broken version 2.0.1 and I had installed “BossPerfs” an application that gives you more control of Iphone Settings. In this application I had both “3G and EDGE” turned on also had 3G turned on in Iphone Network settings. After switching these settings to “OFF” I was able to access T-Mobile D without 3G, I can now make and receive calls, voice mail, and SMS. I know T-Mobile has 3G but there seems to be a problem and I am assuming it’s the Any-Network card .

Default Update 1: My experience with Sim Card

Another update to my thread earlier, “My experience with ANY-NETWORK so far“ I’ve come to the conclusion that Any-Network Card does work “BUT” there are some problem areas that need to be investigated. I have since acquired a new Vodafone SIM Card, together with the Any-Network got my Iphone 3G working normally, in Germany where I live. The problem arises when I travel outside my network e.g. to the US. I am currently on a business trip in the US and once again it does not work with my Vodafone Sim Card. I can’t connect to the local networks (AT&T, AT&T 3G, T-Mobile, T-Mobile3G) All I see is “No Service” I tried everything I know, putting the card in another mobile phone making a call, resetting my Iphone, turning EDGE, 3G,Wi-Fi. I have a prepaid T-Mobile Sim Card which I Installed in my Iphone it also works in the US.
Any-Network card is supposed to work with any network but so far this statement does not hold water.
In a few days I will be going to France will update in on how it works.
Is there anyone out there with a helpful suggestion?

-When nothing is working, always try to turn 3G off, then data roaming on.
-Airplane mode can mess up the connection.
-Always have your legit phone with you for now to put your sim in to re-register with the network.
-T-mobile 3G in the US is not compatible with the iphone. (Different radio band)
-There is no solution as of now that's different form all the rest; you're going to get the same problems no matter what.
