@wdelisi:
You should be able to receive your universal sim soon.
I ordered mine about 3 weeks too. I got mine the other day.
The post office needs your signature, so if you are not home. They leave a note. Make sure you check.

I think Tornado sim and Universal sim have the same result, but I like Universal sim better because I can see Cellular Data Network setting.

I would like to try i-smartphone though, anyone know where to buy it?
I searched, but most website in Chinese. I don't understand Chinese.

Hey... Give it a shot, then we'll have a look. I recommend Google Docs so there's no linking and sending files around. One central repository with good control of who can edit it...

There's enough info in the past 5 pages of this thread to compile into the spreadsheet. Let's try it, as an unofficial compilation.

There is clearly some variation in experiences, even with the same SIM vendors, but I have a feeling that if the data is compiled we'll be able to see any trends much more easily.

I'm happy to take a first stab at putting together a template if everybody thinks this would be of value.

Thanks.

I've tried to search for a way to read the baseband logs. I've managed to get the log (.plist) from the phone after dialing *#5005*STATE#, but cannot find the IMSI number anywhere in it to determine if it's the fake one or not (using a new version of the i-smartphone-SIM-solution and it's working like a charm so far)

.plist ? plist files are usually files for preference settings, hence the name. the baseband log produced should be a .txt file, usually named log-bb-(date)-(time)-csi.txt .....

Ok so I started testing Universal Sim, and after 1 day of usage:

T-Mobile USA:
everything working

-Here's the catch; we all know everything works, but everytime you move to a new tower, go out of service area and back into, or just leave it there untouched for more than 5 hours I get the "No Service." StealthSim did not disconnect as frequently as Universal Sim, (at least in day one), but Universal Sim seems more stable for some reason.

After testing StealthSim for 9 days, and on my personal opinion, I still do not recommend this solution as a permanent solution until software unlock. When it worked, it worked. And it worked for a solid 6 1/2 days. But it crashed and burned after that. T-Mobile network must have messed up the constant communication finally.

I am testing Universal-Sim (v540)

What I am most happy about is the tethering. Ok, it's EDGE, but whoah! Was it fast EDGE! Very nice tethering with firefox, at least at my house. I'm planning on testing it in the car on a road trip, sitting with my macbookpro surfing the web, with everyone in the car jealous of my bad-assness.

I'm just a happy guy right now

Default Announcement... My Testing Phase

Hi all, at this stage I have to announce that in a few weeks time I will cease to test the unlocking SIM solutions.

Last samples still awaiting testing are TornadoSIM (unlock cellular) and StealthSIM SE-updated. VirginSIM, sorry, I won't have enough time.

Thanks to everyone for being so involved.

As for me, I have now a full sold unlocked iPhone3G 8GB from SingTel (Singapore). It works nice, with Maxis (Malaysia) postpaid 3G plans. Therefore, by September 15, I plan to sell my *locked* iPhone 3G 16GB White on eBay... Regardless of if the software unlock comes out.

I understand and respect that the Dev Team will get to it, and people are thinking hard on it. However, I plan to be taking up a job for at least a month and have other plans, so I will have to let go of my AT&T *locked* iPhone 3G 16GB White. The way I figure it, it is still useful if this goes back to someone in the USA, because there are prepaid plans and prepaid 3G possible with GoPhone, or if somebody wants to try using their existing AT&T contract.

So the plan is by September 15, eBay listing will go up one week before that for a one week auction period.

Now, that said, I would really like a GoPhone SIM with roaming activated to test here in Asia. Anyone? I'll start another thread regarding GoPhone and iPhone3G. I have some funds to cover the cost & shipping.

Quite a lot of people have joined in on testing sim hacks over the past two weeks, lol.
An update on my testing on international roaming on Universal SIM. Roaming worked on my three day business trip to HK, with 3G calls, data and SMS with various carriers. But unable to select carriers while roaming was really a pain in the ass.
