Lost soul, if you have 2G Edge activated, GPS works with the StealthSIM, right? Even if you don't have any data signal if your Google Maps area of town is loaded/ cached then as long as you have a 2G call signal available GPS works... at least for me...

I got the Tornado Sim today. Thanks Unlockcellular.

Just a quick report on Tornado Sim after using it for couple hours with t-mobile USA:
It seems that detecting signal is very quickly OTB.

Call In/out: working
SMS In/out: working
EDGE: not test yet, need to turn on Roaming DATA to get EDGE icon though.
I need to reactivate my data plan. Should be able to test tomorrow.
3G: T-mobile doesn't have 3G here yet.
As I know iPhone is not fully compatible with t-mobile 3G.
However, I will be in Las Vegas this Friday (where it has t-mobile 3G). Will test to see if it can get any signal from 3G network. Iphone does have 2100 band though.

The IC chip is very thick. I think tornado sim needs to make it thinner.
Using sandpaper too much might get damages on the IC chip.
Sim tray will get stuck for sure even taping sim and Tornado sim together.
Need to sand a lot on IC and t-mobile sim.

I'll be driving 30 miles away tomorrow, let see how it goes.

I'll be getting Universal Sim this Wednesday. I'll test that sim too.

Baseband logs will be reported when I have time.

Sadly.. No. The only kind of location service it uses is the celltower method.

Default Universal-SIM V540

For all of you that are testing Universal-SIM this is the latest update.

Here is the page regarding this download:
http://www.universal-sim.org/?page_id=87

Best regards,
Universal-SIM

@Lost Soul™ - This update should solve your problem with partial calls. Please do report and also please try to test my sim and other sims that you are testing with different simcards from different providers. That is if you can :-)
Thanks everyone for feedback and hope to hear only good news about iPhone 3G unlocking.

I too i prefer a software unlock :-) but since there is none yet...

That's what i've been waiting for, and so the testing coninues.

Update: I still have to reboot to make the 3G switch having an effect (like, turning it off, reboot and the 3G is turned off). Also using the cards default baudrate results in a "No sim" message. Also no outgoing SMS with 3G turned on..

LostSoul,

You're using the USB reader to update the Universal SIM?

Interesting. For me with O2 prepaid + StealthSIM, if I have a signal, even with 3G off, the GPS works. It is able to pull both celltower and GPS-sat info, AFAIK.

BTW, please to all new to this stuff LOOK AT THE EBAY "UNLOCKED IPHONE3G" CLAIMS VERY CAREFULLY.

There is a lot of crap going around where they say it is "iPhone 3G Unlocked!" when actually they are using a SIM hack.

I've just been to Singapore and got a *proper* FULL UNLOCKED iPhone 3G. Chuck your SIM card in, 3G, etc, all go. Be sure you all check those eBay scams!!

Make sure if it says "unlocked" check for example:
(a)What country is it from? So far legit unlocked is Belgium, Italy, HongKong, Singapore... AFAIK
(b)Verify the above with a receipt, if possible.
(c)Australia/NZ may be unlocked as well, but for Australia not straight out-of-the-box, the original owner has to pay for it to be unlocked through the carrier.

OK more reports from me shortly.
