Sounds like t-mobile usa has their stuff together. I have the service and was sent samples so I will also test this situation. But it sounds like t-mobile is pretty flaky with the sim solutions across the globe.

Day 4 on Universal SIM.. working...
BUT had a few hiccups on day 3. On day 3 I had experienced dropped calls while my iPhone 3G displayed full bars of signal. Text messages didn't get through either. The problem was resolved with a reboot. Don't know if has to do with the SIM hack or the problem is with the iPhone itself (I'm still on stock baseband... there are quite a lot of reports on iPhone 3Gs having problems with dropped calls, my friend's friend with a Hong Kong factory-unlocked phone has the same problems.. so I am speculating) Text messages arrived after reboot. I don't think that it is a one-for-all, OTB solution as I think the Universal SIM has to be programmed to work with different carriers which have different models and makes of sim cards, as I have experimented with three different carriers which need different settings. I used a Gemalto (a SIM card manufacturer) smart card reader which I used with my previous smart card projects to program the Universal SIM. For now, I set up with my carrier to divert my calls to my other cell when the iPhone is "unreachable" so I will know exactly when the phone is faulty. I also have a service that gives me text messages that tell me when I have missed calls (which I don't know what the name is called in international terms). |

the guy wouldnt say what method he used but he told me that it wasnt by using the imsi, he said they used a different method taht worked even after several days with all function (maybe not 3g). i asked if he had send the sim hack for tests on several forums and he told he me he didnt because his method worked and if it didnt he would return the full ammount paid for (USD200.00). but for some reason i asked if using the sim mod i could use any sim just make a hole on it, he told me that it wouldnt work, and that if i wanted to change sim i need to bring it to him so he would change it himself. weird.
also i have a quick question taht I posted on other forum but had no answer, i read from a user in this forum that even if the iphone 3g is locked it can be used on other official carriers in other countries because the authorization is frimware based correct? i live in brazil so since VIVO and CLARO are offical carriers here should it work if I upgrade to 2.0.1 and have a ATT phone??? if it doesnt can I downgrade the 3g iphoen to 2.0?? |
