I understand as you mentioned, there was a shipping error with the wrong card reader sent to me. If you would like to send me 2-5 pieces of Universal SIM that will work out-of-the-box without having to program, or a proper simcard reader that doesn't require a driver, then I can test it properly. This would be starting next week or so when I am in Malaysia, to test 2G/3G, etc. Do let me know and I will give you my Malaysian address. In the meantime, no worries anyways, since mojito is testing, though I would be willing to still assist with the testing, in about 1.5 week's time from today, when StealthSim testing will be nearer to being completed. Just PM me, unfortunately I am not on online chat most of the time. Regards, nvidia2008. Last edited by nvidia2008; 08-16-2008 at 12:59 PM. |

A quick update is that StealthSIM with O2 UK prepaid (PAYG) is working so far at 2G call/SMS level after 5 days. This is with periods of several hours in the first few days where I turned it on Airplane mode to save battery/etc. I am not someone that makes tons of calls and sms, though I like having GPS working well since I have a cellular signal. Tested a few runs with runkeeper.com -- check it out if you are into jogging and biking, hiking, etc.
Now I am awaiting EDGE and 3G activation/SIMs so I can then test it with StealthSIM. I know I am running a risk by using this SIM hack method, as deco has warned everybody. So we have myself and user azambuja (only basic report so far, not a trusted tester as such) testing StealthSIM, and mojito with Universal SIM (not a trusted tester as such, though it is helpful that he has sent logs to deco). Remember, this is not any endorsement yet by the "trusted testers"... Deco, mattmartincouk have provided their opinions, mine is stated above. In any case, it seems that TurboSIM and Yessim/Furiousim may not work out of the box. Further programming may be required for these sims but I do not have time at this stage to investigate. Of course, TSIM isn't working otb. It isn't even intended to do so. It is just a free programmable SIM proxy and the iPhone app is just one application.

Ok. I received the logs from Mojito and as far as I could see uSim is using the same 00101 (5 first imsi numbers).
So another solution that won`t work. Have fun and thanks Mojito for sharing. |

Okay... unfortunately I have to report that StealthSIM may have issues with T-Mobile pay-as-you-go UK. This is because, maybe, when I look at the T-Mobile SIM it is different than the others... the gold part has more rounded, perhaps more old-fashioned curves.
So when I try it, it just shows "no sim". I activated EDGE on it and it works with my SonyEricsson but unfortunately no go on the iPhone 3G. That said, StealthSIM with the O2 PAYG is still working, 6 days or so. I have activated EDGE on it but O2, unlike T-Mobile, seems less efficient and they say this may take "48 Hours" to activate.

It was a brand new one I bought today in London... So I am not sure why T-mobile is still using the old design... I tried different taping it down to see if it was a contact issue. Not successful so far.

O2 UK. Can detect Edge and GPRS with StealthSIM and O2 PAYG. However. Trying to get the right APN, username and password settings are difficult. Only seems to let me reach the www.o2.co.uk official site.
