Default [X-SIM Testers] All commercial stuff goes there

OK, things are getty messy in Hackint0sh land.

We surely need some trusted reports about those commercial solutions without turning into ebay, a trolling contest or a general scamfest - this is an attempt at creating such a solution let's see if it works out ...

This thread is dedicated to trusted testers that should get free samples, and logs with all possible snippets of data. ABSOLUTELY no commercial crap in this thread, no comparison of products based on nothing, no magic "zomg missa works better 1111" comments, we want facts, technical details, facts, reports, facts and more facts. This is a common thread for all commercial solutions, attempts to hijack this for your product will be painful for you - if you need a private forum for your own product, please go and make your own.

Note that as those solutions could be in a pretty much gray (or even black) area regarding your country law, testers are responsible for their own actions and consequences - make sure your country law is ok with such solutions, or use them at your own risks.

users should not buy any of those solutions until they got the ok from the trusted testers - please refrain those impulses.

I'll just be following this thread to monitor it and try to perform the painful police job from time to time.

So far the trusted testers list is (work in progress, but let's keep it short, 5 would be nice, no PM to get in that list kthx, I consider it pretty much closed now )

Ah, how I have risen fast in the Hackint0sh scene. Now I am a "trusted tester"... Muaha hahah ah haha hah ha ha ha ha... Nah seriously though, thanks Zf. Things were getting crazy, let's all stick on this one thread now.

For general Wiki editing, I recommend this page. This will be the reports and have some information on buy/don't buy on the SIM solutions, at least from the point of view of this forum.
http://www.theiphonewiki.com/wiki/in...itle=SIM_hacks

I understand where the iPhone Dev Team is coming from, and I understand this is an area where they do not want to explore if for nothing else it causes too much disruptive information on the carrier networks... When the issue is the iPhone 3G baseband itself, not so much the carrier networks.

For those of us following this thread, my opinion it is just to find a reasonable temporary solution for a few weeks, at most perhaps a month and a half, before the software unlock.

And to filter out various claims floating around.

Deco is collecting logs and I believe he can reveal appropriate information when the time is right.

What we definitely need now are the StealthSim logs. If you are a StealthSim user, please PM Deco directly. Not Zf, Deco.

Yessim/Furiousim : Please do resend to us, the USB cable, not RJ45, so we can verify the Boost mode, etc. Otherwise, we will not be able to see if the Yessim is programmed appropriately, set MNC, etc.

Stealthsim: Please provide to us 3-5 samples.

"Carrier Hop" and Round 2 of Log collection.

I will be travelling from the UK to Belgium and Netherlands in the 2nd half of next week. In any case for my SonyE I have to get a http://sim4travel.com/ . With this new SIM, I plan to use the 2nd of my 2 Yessim samples at stock configuration, and pull baseband logs like crazy. Will report back here later on progress, if any. Also assuming there is a carrier switch when going to Belgium and Netherlands, these are 2nd and 3rd chances for redoing naughty stuff with those carrier networks and pulling logs.

Ditto.

I am also trying a "RebelSIM' from a UK based company who's offices I have been to which do appear to have a working solution. I will update on this shortly.

YesSIM: Out of the box - not working at all on Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile. Need USB cable to program.

Sigma/Alpha X-SIM: Works on 2G only. Outgoing calls/texts only. Data works fine however.

TurboSIM: already reported.

Matt, if RebelSIM is working I am considering going public with this information. First contact is Macworld UK. I know the Editor after my London Regent St iPhone 3G launch "stunt". Problem 1: whether I can get for me as well RebelSIM samples. Problem 2: a PAYG SIM with 3G access as well. I guess I could borrow my brother's SIM.

Note that unless requested if I go to the media I will bear all responsibility. All users I have been in contact with will NOT be implicated in anyway. My flight out of the UK is towards the 2nd half of this month anyways so if I cause too much trouble maybe they'll be happy just to get me out of the country.

Do not do anything relating to the press at the moment. This only amplifies something that;

A) I've not actually tested, only seen
B) Publishing such information will cause frenzy which this thread is supposed to stop.

They don't do samples.. so buying one is the only option I think.
