I personally think it's got something to do with the TMobile carrier bundle... I think our phones are using the Unknown Carrier.bundle (as seen in ~mobile/Library by the Carrier Bundle.bundle link). I have "injected" a T-Mobile postpaid bundle/ipcc file (from http://modmyi.com/forums/t-mobile/65...er-bundle.html) as well, but it's done no good. The Carrier Bundle sym link still points to Unknown. I have a hunch as to maybe why the injected ipcc file I got does not work but not 100% sure. The ipcc file shows a Supported Sim = 310260 and the symlink is for 310260. But according to the another site (ipcc generator http://www.volkspost.info/ipcc_fw3) the MCC/MNC code that make up the Supported Sim value for T-Mobile (at least on my phone) should be 31026. I'll create a custom ipcc file later today to test this out to see if it makes a difference.

Today, when i open the cydia application and foudn that there is a mobile subtract package update(v0.94 if i am not mistaken). After installed and restart, the phone can't pass through the "pineapple" logo and can't access to the home screen. it will switch off after 10 sec. i have tried to boot several times but still no luck. Press Home and sleep button for 10s also doesnt work for me,

SO, today I downloaded the 'Enable MMS 2G 3.1.2' app and with the 'reset' settings in the network for MMS (ept.tmobile.com) my APN for my cellular network changes as well to the ept.tmobile.com. This gives me the ability to send and receive MMS flawlessly BUT I lose my web access completely! When I try to access the web it says web2go something rather 'please subsribe to a data plan'. Problem is I have a data plan and it works fine unless I use the reset settings for enable mms to work.

When I change my cellular APN back to internet2.voicestream.com the APN for MMS goes blank. Then if I add internet2.voicestream.com to the MMS APN I can't receive or send MMS at all. It gives a red exclamation point. FRUSTRATING! Its like I either can have web access and NOT have MMS or have MMS and NO web access. HELP! How can I get it to work for BOTH?! I need all the help I can get from all you experts who frequent this forum and have mad skills. :-)

I have an Iphone 2G (1st generation) with 1.1.4 firmware. I am not with AT&T. As of now my phone is unlocked and Jailbroken.

I am ready to get the newer version of the OS from 3.0 to 3.1.2 whatever is possible.

I tried to use the Pwnage 3.0 software however the Pwnage 3.0 crashes after step #8.

I am on MAC and latest version of itunes.

If someone knows how to do this help me out please.

So if you were among the first having signed a contract on the first day, this Monday will be the day. Hit a T-Mobile store or call 0180-330 2202 (from inside germany).

Other than mobiles from Nokia, Sony ... you wont get an unlock code of cause. The Apple way: T-Mobile will check if the sale date is >= 2 years, will send the IMEI of your iPhone then to Apple. Apple will add your iPhone's IMEI in addition to other unique IDs to their servers and mark the iPhone as unlocked*.

It will take up to 48 days until this is done. From that on you'll be able to insert any simcard in your iPhone and activate it via iTunes - btw same procedure as the one for ppl with a factory unlocked iPhone.



*To unlock an iPhone you need the NCK which is a unique 15 digit key. Those keys for unlocking are sitting on Apples servers and send to the iPhone via iTunes while the iPhone is connected to the Mac/PC.
Each iPhone has a unique HWID, NORID, CHIPID, (id's embedded in the iphone hardware/chips and unique to each phone), the NCK is only working with the one iPhone where the above are matching. I have a few questions before I do that.

First let me explain my situation. I have T-Mobile and plan to keep it that way. I would like to have push support, and from what I've read, you need to activate the phone with an AT&T/Cingular SIM card in order to do that.
I have also read that you can't hacktivate the phone and have push support working.

I also have a Windows computer. I'm unsure whether or not the blackrain/blacksnow/redweather/etc will work on that, I am still a bit confused about all of these and their capabilities. Will it automatically hacktivate my phone?

I would also like to know what procedures I would need to go through to have push enabled. I know that I'll need to first restore it to 3.1.2 as a new iPhone, and I then will have to activate it. I have a Cingular card and an AT&T card, but neither work to my knowledge. Will I be able to activate it with either of these?
After the activation procedure, I'm guessing I will jailbreak it using whatever blackrain or other tool was mentioned before...?

To sum all of this up:
-I have T-Mobile and a 2G.
-I want to have push enabled, so I must activate legitimately.
-I have a friend's non-connecting AT&T and Cingular SIM cards.
-I have Windows.
-I would like to get my 3.0 to 3.1.2 with push, unlocked for T-Mobile, MMS, etc.

I'm unsure what I do next. Do I back up the current keychain files to my computer with SSH, and then use the Unlock from blackrain/whatever?

i have a problem with my Iphone 2g 16gb. I bought it from ebay with an broken LCD and ordered a replacement LCD(complete unit). With the broken screen i was able to make a connection with my wlan router. Then the replacement was delivered and i changed the display, but touch didnt work and i had to order an another one. In the meantime i tried to update to 3.1.2 and it worked.
A week later the new LCD arrived and finally touch was working.

Then i realized that wifi didnt work. I can activate wifi and the circle shows up and looking for a network. It didnt find my network(the other iphone and laptop are working, no mac filter set in the wifi router).
Everything else is OK, sound,gsm,bluetooth ...

I tried to downgrade to 2.2 and 1.1.4 (modem firmware: 04.04.05_G) but my wifi network is still missing.

Has anybody an idea what i can do to solve this problem?

Now that the unlock from Blackra1n is available today, I downgraded to 3.01 and upgraded using iTunes to 3.1.2 which I was expecting to update my baseband, but unfortunately my baseband is stuck at 04.05.04_G. I cant seem to get it upgraded. My unlock statyed through the restore to stock apple firmware, so not sure why my baseband is not getting upgraded, please help. I have held onto 3.0 on my 3GS. And I am an AT&T customer. And I love it. I still can tether with Benm.at, and jailbreak is great stuff.

I have a buddy who upgraded to 3.1 and lost his tether. But he jb'd and got MyWi 3.2.4, and he can now tether, AND the tether option that was not on the Settings/General/Network screen before is now there.

So assuming tether is back with MyWi 3.2.4, and I am not caring about unlocking, can anyone think of a reason that I should not upgrade to 3.1?

There are apps now that are AReality, but only on 3.1.

I havent touched it in terms of upgrades now for quite a while and I am completely out of date.

Last time I used pwntool and bootneuter(2.1). At the moment, it is unlocked, jailbrocken, activated and running on iphone 2.1 version.

Now comes the question part:

1) With my current setting, what is the savest way to backup my contacts.
2) After I backuped the contacts, what program/tool should I use to upgrade the phone
3) What is the best version to upgrade to in terms of stability and savety
4) What version of itunes is best to use
5) Are there any important NOT-TO-DO things, I should remember
6) and finally, is there a way how I can export my songs from iphone into an empty itunes library?

I just inherited an ATT iPhone 2g from a family friend. Sweet. I don't live in the US, so obviously unlock/jb are a must for me.

I've been reading through the forums trying to figure out how to enable push notifications for my phone. Here's the story so far:

1. Received a validly-activated iphone w/ 2.x firmware
2. I've successfully used pwnagetool to install/hacktivate/unlock/JB my iphone with fw v3.1.2.
3. Installed a bunch of apps and generally had a stupid grin on my face for having an iPhone.
4. Realized that the certs that I had on the iPhone before I overwrote it with hacktivated firmware would probably make push work.

I'd like to get push notifications working. After reading the forums, this is my plan of action. Will what I have in mind work?

1. Use pwnagetool to make a 3.1.2 ipsw WITHOUT "activate" checked. E.G. jailbroken and unlocked but not hacktivated.
2. Use my friend's AT&T sim to activate via iTunes.
3. Pop out the AT&T sim, pop in my non-AT&T sim.
4. Download all my apps again... (?)

If my plan doesn't work, how else would you go about the process? I have the original AT&T sim at my disposal.

On a related note: I've purchased a bunch of apps via the app store.
